Restoran Phang Kee Dim Sum@Kepong.

Restoran Phang Kee Dim Sum is located opposite off the Taman Recreasi (Lake Garden) Bandar Menjalara.

A medium sized clean and well planned park with a nice down and uphill walking/jogging track plus an artificial waterfall that flows into a pond in the middle of the park.

A few enterprising uncles and aunties were offering kampung (village) chicken eggs and frozen prawns for sale from their car booths.

Pretty tai2/missus with make up and neatly permed hairdo were doing their line dancing at a corner.

We, like most of their  customers were there for some dim sum and Chinese tea after the strenuous morning exercises.

Famous for it's kai wor pao which is basically steamed cooked glutinous rice with well marinated lean chicken meat, mushroom, onion in Hoi sin (oyster sauce) light/dark soy, sesame oil sauce enclosed with a fluffy flour dough.

Other assorted dim sum and deep fried pastries are also available.

S.Wine@Ben's Independent Grocer@Publika.

The wooden black Iberico finisher pig at the front of the cafe brings back memories of my pig farming days in the 80-90s.

Those were very challenging years managing two commercial breeding/sow to finishers farms with a population of 12000 pigs.

The popular breeds then were Duroc, Large White, Hampshire,Spotted Poland China from USA, Yorkshire from Britain and Landrace from Denmark and Holland- all were bred for their robustness, meatiness and fast growth-no genetically modified pigs back then !

Up to today, I still don't know how my wife could bear the strong odor/stench on my clothes that smelt of pig's manure-everyday !! ha! ha!.

Anyway, S.Wine Cafe is a welcome change in the food scene and bold enough to be a non-halal place to serve strictly porky food with wine to compliment their dishes..

We were game and spoil for choices-choosing both local and western flavored food.

Service was OK.

Pantai Seafood Restaurant.

Guest post by Michelle.

I have not be feeling too well for the past two days. a bit of sore throat, a running nose and a thumping headache.

The doctor prescribed me some medicines which made me more drowsy, resulted in a loss of appetite.

Tonight "part recovery" dinner @ Pantai Seafood Restaurant was with my family.

We ordered food that could prep up my appetite instead of live seafood or crustaceans.

The restaurant was rather quiet on a Monday evening (maybe we were early).

Service was good and attentive.

Parking is ample.

Red Lips Kueh Pie Tee Cups with fillings.

My mother is a Peranakan from Melaka, and she is a fabulous cook and we get to eat a lot of authentic Nyonya's dishes.

Kueh Pie Tee is one of them and it has been a favorite Peranakan delicacy for decades.

I remembered my mother used to make the kueh pie tee cups herself but not now !.

Now it is widely available in most supermarket-Red Lips Kueh Pie Tee Cups@S11/for 50 pieces, is one of the best around.

The Pie Tee cup is extremely fresh, crunchy and taste like an ice cream cone.

It is best to savor it with your favorite fillings.

Mine is shredded cooked yam bean, carrot, mushroom, shrimp and cuttle fish in a dark and light soy sauce-filled it up in a Pie Tee cup and topped with a spicy home made chillies/vinegar sauce.

Fish Ball, Fish Cake and Fish Wanton in a clear broth.

In Petaling Jaya city where I lived-breakfast food is available in many coffee shops, some as early as 6.30 am.

I am always spoil for choices.

Stalls selling all types of food, famous from different states of the country - are found here.

With a potpourri of people to give them business- the good ones will have no problem maintaining their standard while the average will have to up their ante.

This fish ball noodle stall is one of the good one around located at Restoran OK in SS2 .

After a plate of Char Kway Teow @Rm5/-I still have some space in my stomach.

My wife and I share a bowl of fish balls, fish cake, fish wanton (fay tip) in a clear broth with chopped spring onion and coriander leaves @Rm10.

The broth was a tad too salty while the fish balls were springy, fish wanton were smooth and tender-sliced fish cake were quite rough in textures.
