Tai Lei Loi Kei@Plaza33.

I love anything that is associated with pig-dead or alive.

Did you all know that every parts of the pig can be used and be eaten ?

The anatomy of a pig is almost similar to a human being !

My wife makes one of my favorite pork chop (loin eye muscle minus the rib bone) using her secret marinade.

Tai Lei Loi Kei, Pork chop@Rm13.90/ is a different entity from hers'

The marinade is light with a tinge of saltiness-the deep fried pork chop is just rightly cooked,
rendering it to be tender, meaty with a crunch with every bite.

The Polo Bun that covers the Pork Chop is way too small-i ate it by biting around the pork edges-then together with the bun and ended the meal with a good chew around the rib's bone.

Overall a fulfilling and hearty meal for lunch.

Choon Prawn Mee House.

I ate my first mee yoke or prawn mee when I was about nine years old.

Back in the 60's there was this Penang guy named Ah Choon who sells one of the best mee yoke from his mobile tricycle.

My mum and her mahjong kakis would wait for him during lunch hour.

The sounds of tock, tock, tock make by clucking two pieces of bamboo with his hands was his signal.

The mee yoke was real authentic Penang style.

Later in the 70's, he graduated to a three wheelers motorcycle.

In the 80's he operated from a stall in Lin Seng Garden - we used to go for our

weekend breakfast and after a few years he left the scene.

I thought Choon Prawn Mee House was his but it was not !

The prawn mee served here is authentic but there is much chillies oil which can be quite
choking, the shrimps with it's tail intact is way too sweet and the soup is also sweet which
empowers the prawn broth.

At Rm6.50 a bowl-it's needs some tweaking.

Umma Son Korean Restaurant.

I don't really eat Korean food too often.

I am no expert on it but if it's good and appeal to my taste buds I will be a convert.

My children loves Korean food and they have good taste too!

As for me, the urge to try Korean food was after watching "Barefoot Friends"
where these group of Korean artistes get to eat authentic home cooked Korean food
at their host's home.

Umma Son is just the right place for authentic home cooked styled Korean food.

Not much decor and if you are early, not crowded (can be too quiet).

The side dishes of banchan are the  usual stuff, the kimchi and julienne potato salad standout....etc

The pork ribs (half rack) soup is thick and full of flavor with potato, oyster mushroom, spring onion and chillies-tender and meaty.

Another claypot dish comes with springy noodle, rice, beans, tofu, ham, sausage, oyster mushroom, golden needle mushroom and spring onion in a sweet, sour, spicy soup.

The chicken gizzards fried with onion, garlic, black sesame, red and green chillies is crunchy and a good workout for the jaw.

The well fried golden brown savory seafood (squid, shrimp and scallion) pancake is exceptionally good

Parking is bearable.

Tong Nam Bee@Raub.

An original Hainanese kopitiam, with mostly local patrons.

Three ornate wooden framed giant mirrors, rarely found nowadays, adorned one side of the interior wall.

Besides their famous signature Hainanese toast and coffee-chicken and char siew fun is available.

We had their toast bread and buns with butter and kaya plus half boiled eggs.

The toast is quite thick, light weight and toasted to crispy brown.

I like to spread the green pandan flavored kaya on one side of the toast with a piece of butter, fold
it and bite off it-delicious !

The half boiled was made just right with the white (creamy) and the yellow yolk (intact and runny when poked)-sprinkled some pepper and a few drops of soy sauce-it's heaven.

The rest have coffee while i had a honey lemon ice drink.
