Sae Ma Eul BBQ@Solaris

A birthday cum early Mother's Day celebration.

Sae Ma Eul BBQ is situated at a busy and tight traffic flowing corner lot shop.

We  had four sets which consisted of pork shoulder, pork belly, baby octopus,
premium pork and LA Galbi (beef).

Side dishes of kimchi pancake, seafood pancake, soybean paste soup,
stew with grind soybean, fresh lettuce, green chillies , garlic and spicy rice balls
which my wife does with relish.

Banchan is limited to pickled cucumber with red chillies, spinach and kimchi.

It is best to sit inside the restaurant with retractable vacuum exhaust to extract
the smoke away or else you will smell greasy and smoky.

Sky juice is free flow.

Overall a great and fun meal -bonding and cooking with my family.

Kedai Makanan dan Minuman New Grand View@Taman Megah

New Grand View is a typical neighborhood kopi tiam where local hawker's food
is enjoy in the morning with a cuppa of coffee or your favorite cup of tea.

In the evening it is a tai chow ( homecooked styled food).

My wife and her friends are regulars.

The owner, Ah Ying is now their good friend.

I have ate there a few times and found most of the food are good but
I particularly like this fried noodle stall- the yin-yong noodle is clear,
looks so refreshing and not burnt like others-with sliced lean pork,
shrimps, sliced fish cake and lettuce with pickled green chillies to go with it.

Ben's General Food Store.

After our evening grocery shopping at Ben's Independent Store.

It was time for dinner.

We called up the rest of the guys to meet and join us.

We had some shucked fresh Canadian oysters from the oyster stall for starters.

Followed by two types of hot, crispy thin crusted pizza, two half roasted chickens
to share, tantalizing salmon quiche, Quiche  Lorraine with cold kai lan /shrimp salad and two jackets potato.

Overall a nice place to rest your weary feet, relax and have a nice meal.

Steamed Bilut Padi field eel)

Bilut (Padi fields eel) are brownish/black in colors and super slippery and slimy to handle.

A staple food for village's folks and now a delicacy in some restaurants.

Cut and de-bone it with a sharp knife (needs some skills) but most of them just chopped it up into bite pieces.

Then scald it with hot water to get rid of it's slime.

The common style to cook it is kon poh i.e stir fry it with lots of ginger, onion and dried Bombay chillies with light /dark soy sauce.

As for me, I like it, to be de-bone, slice with a slant into bite sizes-steam it with spring onion, ginger, some red chillies and flat rice noodles.
When it's cooked sprinkled some Chinese wine and it's ready to serve !

Chicken Burger.

I like my burger to be made with good quality patty.

Authentic, simple, neat and no frills.

Melted Cheddar cheese or with whatever sauces is a no, no.

This chicken burger comes with Cheese which I opted out.

The chicken patty is well marinated and juicy-grilled to perfection,
topped with fresh lettuce, sliced cucumber, tomato and toasted soft sesame bun
with no-salt fries on the side.

A wholesome meal !
