Padi field eel and wildfrog @ Restoran Shi Zhi Wei.

For me, Restoran Shi Zhi Wei in Tapah,is the one of the best
place to savor padi field eel, wild frog and good "wok hei" food.

It's a small, clean, no-fuss place with about 15 tables but service is
fast (about 15 minutes)

The live wild frogs, padi field eels or farmed fishes are only slaughtered
upon ordering of food.

So you get to eat the freshest and best, straight from the wok.

Whenever we are here, our must order food are:

Steamed wild frog with blended ginger and spring onion.

Kiong choong tinkai -stir fried wild frog with spring onion, onion and ginger.
Kong po padi field eels - de-bone and filleted and stir fried with
dried red chillies, onion and spring onion.
Their in-house made assorted Yong tau foo.
Deep fried fu pei (beancurd sheet) filled with full of springy fish paste.
Stir fried sweet potato leaves with garlic.

Pretty affordable food.

Ample parking spaces around the restaurant.

Kedai Makanan Laut Yong Tat @ Teluk Gong.

Kedai Makanan Laut Yong Tat is a hidden stand alone restaurant
located among factories.

It's the choice place to dine for local Klang people
and the food is good.. a hidden gem.

We have not come here for quite sometimes, really missed their
fried rice vermicelli with lala.

This is almost a late lunch and it took us about 40 minutes to reach.

Top of the list:

Lala fried rice vermicelli with choy sam and pork lard- good.
Stir fried  oyster mushroom -smooth and earthy.
Steamed medium sized local mud crab - sweet, firm and succulent meat.
Steamed Loong Tan slices with blended ginger, red and green chillies padi
- disappointed with the textures of the meat.
Steamed Mantis prawns with julienne ginger, red and green chillies
padi - springy and sweet tasting meat.
Deep fried pork rolls -dry, meaty and overcooked.

We finished off the meal with a plate of sweet, juicy Yan Kee pineapple.

Curry Laksa @Restoran 126 Bittergourd Noodle.

Restoran 126 Bittergourd noodle is a nice place to enjoy a good
bowl of noodle, rice or porridge and as their signboard implies
they are famous for their bittergourd noodle.

Located in Taman Mayang Emas, a place famous for double parking
as parking lots are limited.

For lunch I usually like to eat noodle -just any kind.

Today, the deluxe curry laksa was my choice -a bowl of loh shi fun in a
Nyonya styled fiery red, creamy,  rich and fragrant coconut milk
flavored broth filled to the brim with all kinds of everything except
roast pork which was sold out.

I think they replaced it with a piece of chicken rendang.

Overall a pretty affordable meal.

Pork Noodle @ Restoran Wah Cheong.

Restoran Wah Cheong is located next to the Section 17
covered wet market, right at where the action is !

As early as 5:30 am - the market is bustling with
people from all the surrounding neighborhoods.

My wife likes to do her marketing here even though we
lived quite far away.
While waiting for her, I will have breakfast at my favorite
pork noodle stall.

I can say that this guy cooks a real good bowl of pork noodle
to my satisfaction.
Filled to the brim with lean pork (no gamey smell), minced pork,
pig's liver, pig's kidney and half cooked egg, meatball, pork lard, garlic oil
and garnished with chopped spring onion.

Restoran Thong Kee @Aman Suria.

Lunch time in the Sunway Mas Commercial Centre is
like a game of guess what to eat ?

During peak hours, finding a place to park the car is like
finding a needle in a haystack !

There are just too many food places to choose - because Kampung
Chempaka, Aman Suria and Taman Mayang Emas is just next door to it, too !

Today, our choice is Restoran Thong Kee - a kopitiam renown for it's
smooth, fragrant tea and coffee plus toasted bread with kaya and butter.

There are some stalls selling local favorites, too.

I have a bowl of Three wine chicken served in a light, mild and gingery broth with
Sarawak's thick rice vermicelli, strips of black fungus, beansprout, scrambled
egg, chicken meat and garnished with coriander leaves - Rm9.

My wife went for something light and "ching" Koay teow noodle soup with
nice and springy homemade fish paste, fupei and blanched choy sum -Rm6/

Lai Fun Curry @ Kg Chempaka.

I always yearn for the weekends as I get to eat this lai fun curry.
The stall No:M12 only opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
morning until sold out, maybe around 9.30 am.

It's located on the top floor of the Kampung Chempaka wet market.

It's quite a spacious food court -with about 12 stalls - well maintained
and clean with ample seating.

Today, early morning rain was a good excuse to go and eat my favorite
lai fun curry while my wife does her marketing.

It's a simple bowl of home made smooth lai fun with lots
of soft, airy and spongy pork rind, tofu puffs, thinly sliced traditional
roast char siew, one fish ball, cockle in a addictive not overly spicy,
sourish curry broth with a sprinkling of sesame and a sambal dip.

A bowl for Rm5.50/

Village Cafe Tropicana Avenue.

Just before lunch, I took my car to my foreman Ah Fatt in
Sri Sentosa for servicing and some minor repairs.

The job took more time than I expected.

A black and cloudy sky derailed our plan of having our late
lunch in Medan Selera, Petaling Jaya Old Town.

So, we went to Village Cafe in Tropicana Avenue
which is nearer to our home  for our lunch.

We ordered two sets of Big Village Breakfast as we were famished.

It is very affordable at Myr19.90/set.

Parking is ample and free.

Bak Kut Teh @ Restoran Yi Xin Ge.

Restoran Yi Xin Ge needs no introduction as they are an established
place for bak kut teh, at least three decades in the business.

Now, the second generation are running the business, serving
good old styled bak kut teh in their own distinct taste.

The broth are light, sweet, not too dark with mild balance of herbs
(they have packaged their herbal concoction commercially)

The meats (choose different cuts to your liking) are soft, tender and
detached off the bones easily.

Side dishes like crueller, soft tofu puff, chai buey, pickled mustard green
and greens of the day are available, too.

If you are a small eater, one portion (Rm17) is good  enough.

Delicious Dinner 60.

A series of delicious home cooked dishes by my wife.

Chinese leek stir fried with roast pork belly and tau kwa.

Okra stuffed with homemade Tengirri Papan fish paste and springy fishballs.

Restoran Three Brothers.

Restoran Three Brothers is nestled among factories and
shop houses off the main Sungei Buluh - Subang road.

The most recognizable place from the main road is Star Avenue
or a KFC 500th restaurant.

A hidden gem as some people called them - they serve Chinese cuisine
with some fusion styles with fresh and quality seafood...etc.

We drove here from PJ to have our lunch, scanned through the menu and
decided to have something light and comforting.

First -Fresh Australian oysters as big as our palm - add a squeeze of lemon
to flavor it - so creamy, briny and fresh tasting.

Then - Scrambled eggs with crab meat, it was rather dry but good wei - wrapped
in fresh lettuce with some house made red chillies sauce to fully savored
bite after bite.

We ended the meal with the potent claypot free range chicken in rice wine.
You get the "high heaty feel" and red face after a couple of minutes
of slurping the gingery soup.

Overall a great and affordable meal.
