Restoran Wang Keng @ Bandar Pinggiran Subang.

Restoran Wang Keng is a two shoplots coffee shop located in an
obscured corner among small factories and shop houses.
The best landmark is they are back to back with Ipoh Yong Tau Foo.

Business is brisk - there are about 15 stalls with many types of food
to choose from and pamper your taste buds.

Recently they have upgraded to using IPad for their waiters to take your
order for drinks.

The best time for me to go is during lunch hours as the traffic won't be so jam
on my way back.

First on my order is a big plate of Char kway teow - good wok wei, thinly
sliced flat rice noodle, no cockle, less chillies, more beansprouts and kucai,
less oil Rm6.50

Next is Johnny Penang Prawn Mee with pai kut (pork rib) - broth is too intense and sweet to my
liking but the ribs were tender and meaty Rm13.

Last  is Lam mee -very generously sized - nice thick yellow noodle with prawn,
slivers of chicken and beansprout and garnished with  fried shallots and
spring onion- gravy was not too starchy but needs some tweaking - Rm7.

And  a cup  of tea and warm water to finish off the meal.

Restoran Lim Fried Chicken @SS2.

The opening of another branch of Lim Fried Chicken
in SS2 Petaling Jaya has made it more convenient for us.

They proved that a local brand can be up there and be better
that some of the big boys.

Not much choices but enough to satisfy everyone taste buds,
for a hearty meal.

I ordered a fried chicken drumstick that was hot, crisp and juicy,
served with either fried long beans or Chinese round cabbage and a splash
of savory curry gravy,  plus a dollop of sweet sambal.

Reasonably priced and quick service.

Restoran Pin Xiang.

Restoran Pin Xiang is one of the few air conditioned Chinese restaurants
around Aman Suria.

They have quite a varied menu from eight course dinner to fried noodles
The ever popular pun choy and eight platter plate is also available.

As it was our first time here we opted for some simple dishes.

Smoked tea leaves steamed chicken was outstanding - golden brown skin
and aromatic juicy meat with a bit salty chicken essence on the plate.

Seafood Assam curry - good with white rice -nice balance of fresh
seafood and vegetables

House made deep fried tofu topped with minced pork didn't disappoint.

Prices are affordable and food are good.

Ipoh Beef Kuey Tiaw @ MakanTime.

I  needed something warm to fill up tummy on a super wet, rainy Saturday morning.

Thought of having Nasi Kerabu @ MakanTime but on arrival found out that
it's only available on Fridays.

The metal arch of creeping Butterfly pea flower plant catches our eyes at the entrance.

They serve the usual kopitiam fares but with more value for money dishes, even
their packet nasi lemak (takeway) is packed with good ingredients and is spicyly numbing.

I ordered the Ipoh Beef Kuey Tiaw - served with smooth thin flat rice noodle, quality
beef slices,  freshly made beef balls(wish their were bigger). garnished with freshly
chopped spring onion and coriander leaves in a light fragrant beefy broth.

My wife had a thick toast of butter and sugar - an insane amount of sugar,
have to scrapped off the sugar to eat it.

Kueh mueh were enticing and looks good, will try it next time.

Vegetarian Bao Sandwich.

Breakfast to me is the most important meal of the day,
be it homemade or eaten outside.

Imagine starting the day on an empty tummy!!

Today, my wife made a simple steamed vegetarian bao (bought from
a local grocer) sandwich.

Filled up each of the bao with scrambled egg (a sprinkling of pepper),
Japanese cucumber slices and pan fried Spam (made in Korea-a bit salty)
and it's a sandwich.

A wholesome meal, I ate three pieces at one go !!!

Prawn Mee @ Restoran Xi Heng.

Most of the prawn mee stalls that I patronized claims their origins are from Penang,

A good prawn mee is in the broth not in the extra ingredients.

This particular stall in Restoran Xi Heng in Sunway Mas Commercial Center,
Petaling Jaya is an offshoot from his father's prawn mee stall in
Restoran Kam Heong in State PJ,New Town.

This guy used to help to sliced boiled prawns and boiled lean pork loin
at his father's stall.

Here, he's the boss.
Even though his business is not as brisk like his fathers'
he has his own regular customers and many through word of mouth.
The fragrant prawny and spicy broth is freshly cooked daily at his family home
kitchen.
Hence, there is consistency in the distinct taste of their broth ( other
prawn mee broth are rather sweet to my liking).

A regular bowl cost RM 7 and it comes with a boiled egg, beansprout, kangkung,
prawn and lean pork loin slices, fried shallots and filled with their fragrant broth.

Parking is a problem on week days.

Double Birthday @ Apgujeong

A double Birthday celebration dinner for my two girls, Mindy and Michelle.

Both of them are equally cute, Mindy is the naughty tai kal jie while Michelle is
the baby of the family.

Apgujeong Korean BBQ @Solaris is always  a great choice -ample parking, quiet,
good service and  reasonably priced.

As there were seven of us, we ordered more dishes to share.

For starters. banchan are refillable and they have some good varieties.

As the last time we missed Bossom, it was the first dish on our list -soft and tender
poached pork belly topped with kimchi baby octopus.

Next was Dubu Tofu -fried kimchi with pork belly (to thinly sliced and small pieces)
topped with soft smooth warm tofu.

Grilled chicken and pork shoulder to wrap with fresh lettuce.

Kimchi jjigae -a hearty soup filled with assorted vegetables like leek, onion,
tofu, tomato, kimchi and served with white rice.

The fried glass noodle was not too wet.

Their dipping sauces and condiments are great with the grilled meats and wraps

Assam Laksa (Pasar Malam Sri Sentosa)

Thursday evening is Pasar Malam time in Sri Sentosa off Old
Klang Road.

The place is turned into a riot of colorful stalls selling all
types of local delicacies, fruits. clothes, utensils .....etc

The choices are so diverse from one corner of the road till the end.

This mobile stall assam laksa has benches of it's own for you to sit
and eat in comfort.

Assam laksa is a  Peranakan cuisine and can be found in most
food court and coffee shop.

It's sweet, sourish broth of tamarind/shrimp paste is very addictive
and takes you to a "high"

Served with thick rice noodle, shredded galangkal, lemongrass, wild
ginger flower, pinapple, onion, cucumber, flaky ikan kembung and
topped with mint leaves.

Squeezed some calamansi juice for a citrusy flavor.

Restaurant Fullhouse Seafood

Subang New Village is just a stone thrown away from where I lived.

In the evening the traffic is quite jam as there are a lot of budget airlines
landings and departures.

A drive that takes 15 minutes off peak will be 30 minutes or more in the evening.

The restaurant is fully air-conditioned and is located next to a Petronas petrol station.

As it was our second time here after a long sojourn, we have to depend on the waiter's
recommendations.

A Grass carp's belly steamed with blended ginger - about 800gms, very fresh, fleshy
and must be careful of those fine fork bones on it's shoulder.

Sweet and savory pork ribs.

Bamboo chicken was basically chicken meat steamed in a bamboo trough - meaty in
a salty broth.

And a clay pot of  fried sweet potato leaves with a hint of belacan (shrimp paste)

Overall a great meal and a good time to bond with my family.
