Food hunt around Petaling Street on a sunny afternoon.

We drove downtown and was hoping to find a nice place to park
in Madras Lane - a good axis point to all of our makan places,
but alas a foreign filming crew and their vehicles occupied
the whole parking lot.

We then drove around and was lucky to find a parking spot
(Rm4/hour) next to a Chinese Temple at the entrance of Petaling Street.

First place to eat was Lala in rice vermicelli soup and Beef noodle
at Restoran Lai Foong,  a good ten minutes walk from one end to the other.
Well worth the walk - lala was delicious, gingery, refreshing and intoxicating to
the taste buds while the beef koay teow noodle was passable - nice
broth and generously sized.

Next we took a slow walk through a side lane to Sang Kee
(a stone throwaway from here), famous for their fried noodles.
We had a two pax fried beef koay teow noodle with ginger slices
and spring onion - good wok hei, gingery and tender beef slices.
Plus a plate of delicious Yin Yong noodle with an eggy gravy for my wife.

After the meal and a hot pot of Puer tea to wash down, the 1 pm afternoon
sun was at it's full fury.
We walked back to the crossroad of  bustling Petaling Street to takeaway half
a salted roast duck (Rm28) for dinner from Sze Ngan Chye.

Last destination was next door to where we parked our car,

Merchant's Lane for some snacks of Port Klang (seafood fritters
with Thai sauce) and coffee.
A nice, cozy and bright air conditioned place to rest our weary legs, too !

It was like a food marathon to us and get to exercise, too!

Restoran NZX Foodcourt Boulevard@NZX Commercial Centre.

The opening of Restoran NZX Foodcourt Boulevard is
a blessing in disguise.

They have given the once neglected Boulevard a lifeline with
more hawker's food choices for the residents of Ara Damansara
and it's surrounding areas.

The stalls are mostly manned by locals and the food are the typical
local fares except for an Indonesian (Medan) steamed chicken rice.

The coffee and tea are OK but they need to buck up on their service.

The place is super spacious and airy ( a super huge overhead ceiling fan).

Below are some of the food that I have tried.

Sarawak Kolo mee.

Sarawak Laksa.

Fried Glass noodle.

Char koay teow.

Chicken and roast pork rice.

Indonesian steamed chicken rice.

Bakwa, pig's floss and egg bun.

Sam Kan Cheong Noodle.

Open until 3:30 PM

Mei Let Restaurant @Bandar Pinggiran Subang.

Many of the shops near and around this restaurant is closed on
Sunday evening.

The road leading to it can be dark and quite remote if you are not
not familiar with this area.

Business is brisk as their menu is varied and most of the diners looks
local and regulars.

They have air conditioned and smoking dining areas.

We ordered a house made silky smooth tofu with cloves of garlic
in a golden yellow sauce, steaming hot claypot pork belly with salted fish
 - fragrant and tasty, black vinegar pork trotter, stir fried cauliflower
florets with oyster mushroom and fried squid with salted duck egg.

Overall a satisfying dinner with my family.

Parking is ample.

Kafe Shan Western Grill @ Bandar Pinggiran Subang.

A halal place for Western and fusion food located in a
factory area in Bandar Pinggiran Subang.

It was a chance encounter for us while driving around for a place
to eat lunch.

Shan Western Grill is a simple air conditioned restaurant with
sparse furnishings and with a sea fishes aquarium that is
pleasing to the eyes.

The menu is varied with ample choices for all ages.

We ordered a set lunch of fillet o fish (grilled Flounder fish)
that comes with a piece of garlicky toast, thick earthy mushroom
soup and a glass of iced lemon tea - Rm15.90

And a fried Hainanese rice vermicelli noodle with fishcake slices,
prawn, cabbage and slivers of chicken meat - Rm6.

Overall a satisfying meal in air conditioning comfort.

Sarawak Kolok Mee @Face to Face Noodle House

This local Sarawak noodle name, came about in their founder
personal belief in consistently making sincere face to face
connections with his customers became the backbone of his
business philosophy, and eventually inspired the name of his
restaurant; Face To Face Noodle House.

Besides Sarawak noodles in various variations they also serve
the all time favorites pan mee in so many different styles in their
own creations.

My first time here in their Dataran Ara Damansaaara branch.

The restaurant is air conditioned with smoking seating outside.

I ordered the original Sarawak Kolok mee- springy noodle with minced
pork tossed in lard oil and char siew (abit coarse) with pork balls
and add on of sayur manis in a eggy broth.

A suitable combination.

Famous Seremban Favourites Restaurant@Sunway Mas CC.

Been wanting to try this Famous Seremban Favourites Restaurant
char siew for quite awhile.

I will pass by here whenever I go for my prawn noodle fix a few
shops away and it's always packed.

Today we were early and ahead of the lunch hour crowd.

We ordered dry mee pok (thick flat noodle) tossed in lard oil
and topped with minced pork and spring onion with add on of
caramelized, sweet, tender and melt in the mouth char siew (BBQ
Pork belly) too small pieces.

Parking is quite a hassle.

Apple Samgyupsal Korean BBQ@Taman Desa.

For me, Korean food is kimchi, grilled meats especially pork
and lots of refillable banchan.

Watching Korean food drama has some influence on me to want
and try out Korean food.

Tonight dinner @Apple Samgyupsal is a first for my family.

We ordered two sets with one that consists of premium cuts of
pork (marinated with apple base)and unlimited ramyun which
we have to cook ourselves

The best part of grilling the meat over charcoal fire is the thick
piece of steel griddle which does not create or char any oily
or greasy layer on the cooked meat.

The sore point is we have to replenish everything ourselves.

Parking is a problem unless you are early.

Pretty affordable and fulfilling meal.

Botak Nasi Lemak @ Selera Wawasan SS3.

My first taste of Botak Nasi Lemak was when my friend
Jessica, who resides in SS3, tarpaued (takeaway) a few
packets of nasi lemak (Rm2/packet) with it's logo for us to try out.

It's stand out from others because of it's spicy addictive sambal
and fragrant rice.

In this food court there is also a famous and affordable Indian rice.

I ordered a plate of fragrant and fluffy coconut flavored nasi lemak
with a piece of crispy, juicy fried chicken drumstick
which came with more add on like a fried egg, anchovies, cucumber,
more sambal and roasted peanuts @Myr8.

A wholesome meal.

Lum Mee @ O & S Restaurant.

Lum mee aka "Birthday noodle" is a must in Peranakan
household during festive season.

This Lum mee stall located in O&S Restaurant is one of personal favorite.

Thick yellow noodle topped with slivers of chicken meat, prawn slices,
beansprout and garnished with chopped spring onion is then
doused in a light starchy egg gravy with add-on of five pieces of
crunchy and succulent prawn wanton.
A small cup of spicy numbing sambal for dip.

A plate of gooey and comforting goodness to begin the day.
