Restoran Hooi Loong.

We always give Restoran Hooi Loong a miss, just do not know why?

This big and long restaurant, like a "stretched limousine" is located in Damansara Jaya.

The longish interior is spacious with several private dining rooms with Karaoke.

A stall with BBQ/braised/roast pork/poultry greet you at the side of the front entrance.

Service was average with foreign waiters/waitresses.

The fat supervisor was very persuasive-kept on introducing their braised dishes and roast duck/pork.

Parking is Ok on weekends.

Braised Chicken-tender and meaty-a bit of high handiness on the Pak Kok (star anise) otherwise excellent- Rm26/
Claypot braised pig tendon/fish maw and pork-full of collagen-well absorbed fish maw with tender fatty pig's skin and lean meat-gravy goes well with rice-Rm50/
Lo May-braised pig's ear/snout served with braised Tofu/egg/sliced cucumber-quite a rare dish in a restaurant-average-Rm25/
Stir fried Hong Kong Kai Lan-such a small serving for the five of us-Rm18/

Total bill:Rm145/
Location: 7-17, Ground Floor,
Jalan SS 22/19,
Damansara Jaya, Petaling Jaya.

Chyniis is a modern, chic looking Chinese restaurant with a contemporary design-located at the newly opened SS Two Mall in Petaling Jaya.

Part of SS Two Mall's restaurants row.

Tables and chairs settings are arranged spaciously in an orderly manner-even the table cloth are good to the feel.

Soft lighting from  dragon motif hanging lampshade adorned the ceiling.

As there were few diners-(maybe they are still new)-service was excellent.

Parking is ample and free of charge.

Lemon Chicken-the deep fried chicken was served on a bed of light, smooth, zesty lemon sauce and three slices of fresh lemon-meat was tender with crispy and crunchy skin-Rm20/
Spring onion/ginger fish-well stir-fried but there were too much fresh spring onion-the thickly sliced Garouper fish was fresh and fleshy-Rm32/
Braised Tofu with Tau Kan served with blanched Bak Choy on the side with a superior gravy-smooth and silky Tofu and thick Tau Kan-Rm22/
Stir-fried Hong Kong Kai Lan with roast pork-the pork were too lean and salty-Kai Lan's stems were too thin but still crunchy and leafy-too much for the four of us !-Rm28/

Total bill: Rm130/
Location: G 45-46 & 47, SS Two Mall,
40, Jalan SS 2/72,
Petaling Jaya.

Minced Pork Patties.

Pork patties are a big hit as a finger food for children.
Lean pork plus fats are minced.
Chopped onion/garlic.
Shredded deep fried salted fish
Finely chopped Coriander leaves/spring onion.
Mix everything together with some Tapioca flour, egg, biscuit crumbs-season with salt and pepper.
Roll into ball shape and flatten it to about 2 inch diameter.
Pan fry with some Olive oil on medium heat-turn it over a few times until it is cook to a fragrant golden brown color.
Ready to serve with a dipping sauce of Lingham's chillies sauce.

Firm and meaty with lots of chopped garlic/onion/cilantro-great flavor and taste with a crisp crust-good as a finger food !

Restoran De Maw.

Saturday lunch with my buddies-we went to Restoran De Maw a small and quaint Chinese restaurant located beside the Menara PGRM building in Pudu Ulu.

The interior Oriental design was a welcome change, with bright side windows-marble top tables and sturdy carved wooden chairs.

Photographs of the chef and his three gold medals tally are proudly displayed near the counter (the food must be good ! )

As it was a quick lunch we ordered two dishes with a complimentary bowl of "soup of the day"

Parking is OK-just beside the restaurant.

Herbal village Chicken served in an aluminium foil-was tender, firm and muscled-with crunchy black fungus, sliced mushroom/wolfberries-the broth was full of herbs and chicken essence flavors.

Mixed vegetable-mushroom / florets of broccoli & cauliflower / gingko /carrot / tau kan (soy gluten puff) / oyster mushroom in a smooth tasty gravy- fabulously good.
Complimentary soup-double boiled old cucumber with chicken claws came in a big bowl-well boiled.

Total bill:Rm44/
Location: 18, Jalan Pudu Ulu,
off 3rd mile, Jalan Cheras,
Kuala Lumpur.

Muhibbah Seafood.

Muhibbah Seafood is located in Kg Sg Penchala, it is a converted kampung house beside a sloped road at a cross road junction with continuous blinking amber traffic lights.

The place is spacious with a high ceiling, full blast of air from the numerous ceiling fans does not do justice to the hot mid-afternoon heat. (must be cooler in the night).

Noises and gassy smell from speeding vehicles on the LDP highway provided "ambiance" to the restaurant.

Orders were quickly taken but drinks took ages to be served.

Deep fried Siakap fish, fried noodles, fried rice, deep fried squid and prawns are seen on most tables.

Overall the food were up to our expectations, much cheaper and comparable to those famous fried noodles stalls in Imbi or Kuala Lumpur city.

Parking is OK along the road.

Udang Har Lok-fresh medium sized prawns tossed in a garlicky/shallot/chillies/oyster sauce/dark & light soy sauce-was full of flavors-Rm16/
Goreng Daging Halia-fried beef noodle-tender beef slices with lots of sliced ginger and spring onion and the right amount of gravy-enough for two persons-4 stars-Rm7/
Yin Yong-a huge plate of fried mixed noodles of rice vermicelli/kway teow-with eggy gravy, lots of shrimps, lean chicken breast meat and Choy Sam-one of the best that we have eaten-Rm12/

Total bill: Rm40/
Location:Lot 2851, Jalan Seri Penchala,
Kg Sg Penchala, Kuala Lumpur.

Home made Fishpaste Toast.

Breakfast to me is the most important meal of the day.
It consists of either toasted plain whole grain bread with a spread of avocado, jam, peanut butter, omelette ...etc or noodles.

Today's breakfast was special-it was home-made fish paste toast  !

It's easy to made:

Gardenia whole grain bread-4 slices.
Spread home-made fish paste evenly on one side.
Pan fried (fish paste side only) on low flame in a hot pan with a dash of Olive oil until cooked.
Ready to serve.

The pan fried home made  Tenggiri Papan's fish paste was firm and springy and with the combination of the slightly toasted wholegrain bread-every bite was a real delight !
