Sentul Ah Yap Charcoal Hokkien Mee Restaurant @Sunway Mas Commercial Centre..

Have not tried their main branch in Sentul because of  it's distance
and inconvenience.

Heard that it is a good supper place.

Anyway, this place in Sunway Mas Commercial Centre is just a stone
throwaway from my residence.

Always passed by here - the flying embers from the charcoal fire is
a sight to behold but never patronize.

This evening the urge for fried noodle was "on" and here we are.

Beside fried noodle they do serve other stir fried dishes, too.

We ordered a Charcoal fire fried Hokkien rice vermicelli / thick yellow
noodle, a bowl of Lor Mee in a sticky egg gravy topped with pork
lard and generously ingredients and a plate of butter mantis prawns
which were fleshy and with fragrant buttery floss.

A great and tasty meal and they did not disappoint !!

Kam Kee Seafood Restaurant.

For lunch,  I usually like to eat something simple and not too full.

Today choice is noodles and  prawn fritters.

Kam Kee Seafood Restaurant location is ideal-  no need to pay parking
fees and ample  parking spaces.

It is a nice and simple place where we come for our yearly Yee Sang,
which is available next month.

We had 1: Fried Hokkien bee hoon with thick yellow noodle topped with lots
                 of deep fried lard.

2:Jiang Nan mee or kong nam mee.

3:Deep fried lightly batter prawn fritters.

And a pot of hot Chinese Pu er tea to wash off the oils and fats.

Restoran Tiong Hokkien Mee@Damansara Uptown.

It has been a long time since we last ate noodles like fried Hokkien mee, lor mee, wat tan hor, Hokkien kway teow for dinner.

If I am not mistaken this stretch of shops along SS21/37@Damansara Uptown has three Hokkien mee restaurants.

We went to Tiong as it was highly recommended by a friend.

They are open from 4pm -2am and the dinner time crowds are brisk.

The noodles are cooked and  fried with charcoal fire-giving it good wok hei and fragrant taste.

We also ordered some Nam yue flavored fried chicken wings and a big plate of Yau mak vegetables to balance off the meal-and not to forget Pu'er tea to wash off the sinful fats and oil.

Prices are reasonable and the food commendable,

Parking after 6 pm is bearable.

Wat tan Hor-flat rice noodle in a starchy egg gravy with Choy Sam, Chinese round cabbage, pork slices and prawn.

Hokkien fried kway teow (flat rice noodle) in a light/dark soy sauce with pork slices, prawn, deep fried pork lard, Choy Sam and Chinese round cabbage-oily and lardy.

Lor Mee-thick yellow noodle cooked with pork slices, prawn, Choy Sam and glossed with a starchy egg soup and topped with deep fried pork lard-add a dash of Narcissus brand black vinegar for added flavor.

Nam Yue fried chicken wings-crispy n the outside-well marinated-taste just right to my liking

Fried thick yellow Hokkien mee with prawn, pork slices, Chinese round cabbage and deep fried lard in dark soy sauce-not too oily but lardy.

 Total bill:Rm91/

CHARCOAL FRIED HOKKIEN MEE.

Once in a while my wife and i like to indulge in some oily/cholesterol laden charcoal fried Hokkien mee with a hot pot of Chinese tea to wash it down.

This stall is located in a no name corner coffee shop in Section 17, Petaling Jaya run by Tua Pui who charcoal fried one of the best Hokkien style fried Kway Teow, fat egg noodles, Bee Hoon and Lor Mee while having his fix of a bottle of Guinness stout every now and then.

Forty years ago,Tua Pui was one of the four young cooks of the famous Jackson Hokkien Mee stall in Restoran Lucky in PJ State new town (now RHB) where we used to patronize.

We have been his regulars ever since.

p/s be prepare to wait (30-45 minutes) and sometimes his wife can be quite ignorant!

Charcoal fried Hokkien Kway Teow-with light and dark soy sauce, lean pork, shrimp, Chinese cabbage and deep fried pork lard-the kway teow was chewy, smooth, fragrant, oily and a bit charred-arteries clogging stuff but delicious-Rm6/

Charcoal fried Hokkien fat egg noodle and bee hoon (rice vermicelli)-with light and dark soy sauce, lean pork, shrimp, Choy sam and deep fried pork lard-the combination was perfect with the right amount of gravy reduction-Rm6/

Location: Section 17, Petaling Jaya,
corner coffee shop-beside the open air food court.
