One-Dish Meal.

What I like about a one-dish meal is that it's a wholesome, well-balanced meal.

Leftovers meat, poultry and fish are potentially good to cook one-dish meal with the combination of other greens.

One-dish meal must ideally be simple and easy to cook.

My personal favorite is Kai Choy Fun (Chinese Mustard Green stem/roast pork rice) cooked by my wife.

The ingredients are:
Cooked White rice.
Chinese Mustard Green Stem-cut diagonally (the more the better)
Roast Pork belly-sliced (buy from market)
Dried shrimp-chopped
Shallot-diced and deep fried.
Garlic-chopped
Salt and pepper for taste.

Heat up pan with cooking oil-add chopped garlic/dried shrimp-fried until fragrant-add Chinese Mustard Green stem and stir fried until half cooked-add roast pork belly-stir fried until all ingredients combine well-add salt and pepper for taste-served on plates with lots of deep fried shallot-a wholesome meal!.

GOOD FRIEND-GENTING-2 visit..

Good Friend is one of the many F&B outlets in Genting Highland, Pahang which we like to patronized.
Their menu are quite extensive and varied from Dim Sum, Western food to typical Chinese cuisine.

We had a light lunch as tonight there will be an eight course dinner at The Genting International Convention Center Ballroom.

After the meal we had a short fling at the numerous money gobbling Slot machines in the casino.

We were lucky to have won some money, as Lady Luck was on our side
.

A plate of crispy 3 layer roast Pork belly and well marinated meaty Char Siew served with some pickled vegetable-Rm30/.

Clay pot white Bean curd with Fish maw-the tasty thick gravy was perfect with rice-Rm13.30/.

Stir fried Kai Lan with salted fish, some red Chillies and diced big onion-was a bit salty but very appetizing-Rm13.30.

Total bill:RM66/

KEDAI KOPI BAN KEE-CHICKEN RICE AND THE ART OF FILLETING AND COOKING EEL.

Kedai Kopi Ban Kee is a spacious coffee shop with a Wan Ton Mee stall (in the morning) and a Tai Chow (till night).
It is located near the traffic light junction off Jalan Timur and Jalan Pahang in Tapah town, Perak.
The Tai Chow is run by a husband and wife team with the help of a server.

Their specialty are local Chinese cuisine with wild Frog, Eel and Haruan (Snakehead fish) as their bestsellers.

I had my lunch of a plate of chicken rice and a rare opportunity to watch the stall owner-Lor Chor filleted an Eel (Belut) and cooked it, too!

Front view of the shop.

BBQ chicken, Char Siew and roast Pork-all in a row.

Chicken rice-breast area-with a glossy skin, tender and meaty with chopped Cucumber and tasty sauce-Rm3/

Eel (Belut)-Padi field's variety-chop off the head and scald it with hot water for a few seconds then clean off the sticky scum from it's body.

Fillet it with a sharp knife.

Slice it with a slant and into bite size.

The stall owner Lor Chor stir fried the sliced Eel with tender loving care.

Stir fry eel with garlic, soy sauce and Shao Hsing Chinese wine-fresh, tender and springy-perfect with rice.
