NASI LEMAK FRIENDS' PLACE IN BAKTI TTDI

While walking back to our parked car, after our morning walk at the Taman Rimba, Bukit Kiara in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, we saw a man steaming "something" in a wooden bucket on a gas stove. A fragrant aroma waft the air as we approached nearer, eh! it was a Nasi Lemak stall. There were about 5 stalls and only Friend's Place stall was opened. The stall owner told us that they started the business just a week ago and is open on Sunday morning only while on weekdays it is from 3.30 pm onwards. Friends' Place is located in a Bakti owned place just behind the TTDI's mosque.

The view of the car park

A simple but clean stall.

The stall owner scooping the piping hot white fragrant rice from the wooden bucket.

The side dishes available are fried chicken parts, fried eggs, curry cuttlefish...etc.

Ta Pau (packaged) 2 packets @rm4.80-with the usual accompaniments-the rice was fragrant and whole grained but not well coconut milk flavored, the chicken drumstick was tender and turmeric flavored while the cuttlefish was soft with a chewable texture and the Sambal fiery hot!

CHICKEN CHOP

Tonight, my wife decided to cook Western food for a change, too much of the same kind of food daily, will be a bit boring.

CHICKEN CHOP-1.Chicken drumstick was oven cooked -well marinated with garlic, honey and XO sauce-2. Blanched Broccoli florets- 3. Mashed potatoes filled with shredded fish meat, coarsely chopped onion-sprinkle some pepper and salt for taste.

A real hearty and comfort meal.

SUSHI ZANMAI - I UTAMA

Tonight dinner was a "bonus" gathering for the family, it is hard to have every one to eat together because of work commitments. Today, Mindy flew back from Saigon in the afternoon, Michelle was off and Mike finished his reviewer's work early. We met up at Sushi Zanmai at 1 Utama for dinner.
Sushi Zanmai is a Japanese restaurant with the usual conveyor filled with freshly made sushi snaking around part of the restaurant.
It was quite a sight to watch the various type of Sushi going round and round. Their menu is varied and they claimed, their food to be authentically Japanese with original recipes and they used genuine ingredients. I really like their good food presentation, very visually pleasing, and I could feel that it was made with a lot of patience, effort and skills. Most of their Sushi ingredients like Tuna, Salmon and Prawn are generously sized and fully covered the vinegared rice, unlike others!
We ordered a few dishes from the menu, some Sushi from the conveyor and had hot Green Tea for drinks. Overall, it was a happy and hearty meal for the six of us.

GARDEN PALACE SEAFOOD RESTAURANT SDN BHD.

This is the second time we are having dinner at Garden Palace Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd, we tried them out during Chinese New Year's Eve-verdict- GOOD. The old man Captain was a familiar face-found out that he was from Restoran King Crab in Taman Megah and the Chef cum owner was from Restoran Rasa Sayang in Damasara Jaya-a creative and accomplished chef. I was surprised with the excellent effort put into every dish that they served. The presentation was visually pleasing, taste excellent and the fresh ingredients used are what i would had only expected from 5 star restaurant. We were recommended the sharks fin soup on offer for only rm9.80/bowl, crabs at rm25/kg and their signature dishes. The restaurant is fully air conditioned and parking is ample except on Thursday because of the pasar malam.

Sharks fin soup-served on a mini casserole with a wax flame under it to keep warm-the superior broth was filled with sharks fin, crab meat and red crab's roe-satisfying with a delicate flavor-rm9.80/bowl
