RESTORAN UNCLE MENG.

Today, I had my own lunch because my makan buddies were busy with their work schedule.

Restoran Uncle Meng located a stone throwaway from my office in Taman Shamelin Perkasa, Cheras was a good choice.

I went there for a quick and simple meal of roast chicken/char siew (BBQ pork) rice.

The stall cum owner is the younger brother of the famous Meng Kee's char siew/chicken rice shop off Jalan Tengkat Tong Sin in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

Uncle Meng's version is on par and just tasty as his brother's !

Roast chicken drumstick and Char siew (BBQ pork)-chicken meat was tender with a crispy skin while the Char siew was well marinated, caramelized and honey flavored.

Garlic chillies sauce.

Water cress soup-double boiled and tasty-complimentary.

Total bill:Rm6/
Location: Jalan 6/91, (behind ESSO station)
Taman Shamelin Perkasa.

Cheras.

Free watercress soup? What a great offer. My area would sell that bowl for 4 dollars US. Worth a lot of $$$.

I wish I could eat that roasted chicken now :). The contrast of textures with the sauce and veggies sounds fantastic.

Looks like the char siew is cut in wrong orientation. You get what I meant?

ETE-they used the unused chicken bones to boil the soup-that's why it's free!
LInbox-yes, business was brisk, sometimes his son does the chopping-for melt in the mouth char siew go for the 1/2 fat/lean portion.
thenomadGourmand-he's doing well here, funny thing his wife is helping out with Meng Kee, in Jalan Alor.

Heard a lot of good food in Cheras. But it is a place that me and my hubby always miss. We always eat around PJ only. This char chiew drumstick looks really tempting. We will definitely try to explore that place once we have the opportunity to do so ;-)

Btw, those Chalice vine at TTDI park, I noticed too! They were given a trim recently. You are right!
