Imperial Rama @ Highlands Hotel.

Our day's trip to the cool 6000m Genting Highlands resort was to escape the city's heat and haze.

We had lunch at Imperial Rama @ Highlands Hotel- a Top 10 restaurant with a HAPA Award 2010-2012 for Best Chinese Cuisine Restaurant.

The resort really knows how to pamper those high roller's appetite for good food from many of it's restaurants.

Ordinary people like you and me can patronize this restaurant for a quiet and sumptuous meal, too.

The restaurant is elegant, comfortable and is not too big - served a mixture of authentic Chinese  and Thai cuisine.

The prices are pretty affordable with attentive service.

Zen Thai Cafe & Spa.

When PJ meets JB.

We reached hot and breezy Johor Baru in the late afternoon and after a relaxing rest and shower it was time for dinner.

My bil Kam took us to Zen Thai Cafe & Spa for dinner which was located at the recently opened Taman Sutera Utama commercial center.

The restaurant as it's name implies serve only Thai food - spacious, calming atmosphere with soft lighting.

We did not see the Spa section as it was located upstairs.

Parking is OK.

Front of the restaurant.

Decorative motif and figurine outside the restaurant.

Deep fried Local Tofu served with stir fried straw mushroom/sliced carrot/onion and cilantro-tofu was crisp on the outside and smooth on the inside with the extra flavor of assorted vegetables.

Pandan Chicken-well marinated-fragrant-deep fried and have a soy/fish sauce for dip.

Green curry chicken-coconut milk flavored-not too spicy-filled with lots of green baby eggplant, okra, long bean, tomato...etc-appetizing!

Deep fried Siakap fish-very crispy skin with fresh and fleshy and garnished with deep fried garlic and oil.

Tom Yum Koong-we opt for the clear soup with a sweet/sourish taste-served with oyster mushroom/onion and fresh, succulent prawns-heavenly..

Fragrant whole grain white rice was perfect with those delicious and lip-smacking dishes.

ROYAL THAI-TROPICANA CITY MALL.

Today, my daughter Michelle, a Thai food lover was on leave from work and she was able to join us for dinner.

Her choice was Royal Thai in Tropicana City Mall, which opened not so long ago.

I was surprised when told that San Francisco Steakhouse, Santini and Royal Thai shared the same kitchen, maybe because of location wise or just to save space ???

Bun Tham, the friendly restaurant manager recommended some of their signature authentic Thai dishes to us.

Well padded and comfortable chairs.

The cutlery are heavy and bigger than normal sized ones, even the tissue paper is extra thick.

Fish Mango Salad-crispy deep fried Garoper fish fillet, fish sauce, peanut, overly sourish sliced green mango, diced onion served on a leaf of Chinese round cabbage-good appetizer-Rm16.90/

Stir fried mixed vegetables-florets of broccoli and cauliflower, long bean, sliced carrot and oyster mushroom with a tasty gravy-Rm14.90/

Green curry chicken-tender chicken meat, green mini eggplant and round eggplant topped with flavorsome Basil leaves-the creamy green curry chicken broth was not too hot nor spicy-Rm18.90/

Clay pot Eggplant & Tofu- garnished with pungent Basil leaves-a tad too oily-Rm8.90/

Lipton Jasmine tea to wash down all the oil-Rm5.50/
