Melaka City (Half Day)

On our back from Johor Baru, we dropped by the historical Melaka city
for a half day makan (food) tour.

First stop was to  - Ming Sate Hut near Plaza Mahkota for their grilled
Pork satay , innards and Chicken  gizzards satay with their irresistible
pineapple/peanut sauce (a Melaka specialty).

Next we drove to nearby Yong Seng Gift Shop to buy 3 in 1 coffee and bisquit.

Then a distance away to Baba Charlie in Tengkera to buy and takeaway nyonya
kueh mueh and ate pie tees that was made on the spot by a young guy.

After that all the way to Cafe  Lin's in Limbongan, for a wholesome Peranakan
home cooked chap fan (economy rice) lunch,  buah keruak curry and cendol.

Nasi Lemak Berlauk@Kg Senibong.

Does, Restoran Malam Indah Selalu @ Kg Senibong, Bandar Baru Permas Jaya serve the best nasi lemak berlauk in Johor Bahru ?

The best landmark to access the restaurant, is, on seeing Jusco Permas Jaya, at the traffic lights junction turn right and it will leads you there.

Located by the seaside and built on stilts, looks ramshackle but sturdy with a great view of Sembawag, Singapore.

Next to it, is a cluster of seafood restaurants known as Restoran Selera Senibong Seafood (RSSS) which we hope to try on our next trip.

There are fried chicken, rendang chicken, beef rendang, sotong, fried kembong fish.....etc to eat with your nasi lemak (coconut milk rice).

,

Fresh fishes, shell fishes - all ready to be grill, boil or cook to your order.

The seven of us had nasi lemak berlauk with fried chicken and rendang chicken (Rm6/plate) and side dishes like sambal baby sotong (squid), two deep fried kembong fish, a big chunk of sambal ikan pari (stingray), twenty skewers of chicken satay with a really tasty peanut sauce and cool limau kasturi juice drinks.

Nasi Lemak berlauk-Fragrant grainy coconut milk  rice served with French bean, fried egg, two slices of cucumber, papadom like cracker, fried and rendang chicken and hot, spicy and numbing sambal which perks up our palate-Village Park nasi lemak is much tastier.

Grilled to perfection Ikan Pari with an addictive spicy, sourish, lemongrass like sambal which combine well with the fresh and fleshy fish -5 stars !.

RAYA & DWALI SATAY PARTY.

On the 8th of November, we were invited to a Raya and Dwali satay party at Ara Damansara for the Palemo residents. The event was organized by my s.i.l Hannah to foster goodwill and neighborliness among the residents. It was a simple event-held at a children playground-no fancy tents, just some plastics tables and chairs, candle-lit jars and mosquitoes for company. Thanks God, it did not rain that night! The satay was prepared by Restaurant Haji Samsuri (Kajang) from Damansara Uptown.

A bunch of flowers setting on the buffet table.

2 types of satay-beef and chicken-was well marinated, meaty, turmeric and lemon grass flavored.

Freshly diced big onions and cucumber.

Lovely weaved and woven ketupat-rice cake-tight and firm.

Hot and spicy peanut sauce - dip for the satay, onion, cucumber and ketupat-delicious

Various fruits to cool down.

Free flowing drinks-Coca Cola, Sprite,100 plus, RO water and Orange juice.

Candle lit jar.

The residents helping themselves to the satay.

Simplicity was the theme- the type of seating.

The see saw was not spared too.

In Malaysia, satay is a popular dish among the various races. It is available anytime of the day in every nook and corner of the country. An A-list must, during the Hari Raya open houses. Satay is make from meat of chicken, beef, fish, pork, rabbit, intestines......etc. The sliced marinated meat is then skewered and grilled over a charcoal fire. A stalk of lemon grass is used to sprinkle oil over it to aid in the grilling process. A bowl of chillies peanut sauce is a must. Dip the satay into the sauce and eat, it's delicious! The side dishes consists of sliced green cucumber. big onions and ketupat (rice cake). Washed it all down with a glass of iced cool sugar cane juice. Best!
