Redang Station No 15 @ Sekinchan.

A two hours drive to Sekinchan turned into an extra hour because
of the drizzling rain.

The sky open up when we about to reach there.

Vast tract of green Padi (rice) fields and fruits stall greeted us on both
sides of the road.

A left turn at the town's main traffic junction led us to Bagan,
another right turn takes us to Redang Station 15.

A rickety makeshift plank platform extended out to the river,
with just three wooden tables bounded with black and white linoleum plastic
sheets which added some contrast to the place. Fishing nets as wall partition.

The shirtless owner cum cook Ah Chuan took our orders and
told us his seafood are only steamed to retains it's freshness and
sweetness while the oysters are freshly shucked.

The sauces are light soy sauce and homemade red chillies in vinegar.

The meal was very satisfying, "ching" and full of natural, fresh and sweet flavors.

Seafood at it's best !

The only funny thing is, he serves us the shucked fresh oysters last.

The entrance.

Steamed Mantis prawn.

Springy fish balls.

Lala in a sliced ginger and red Bird's eyes chillies soup-slurpped to the last drop!

Steamed Flower crabs-fine texture and sweet meat.

Steamed Sea Prawns-big sized -full freshness and succulent with every bite.

Seven Star Grouper fish-steamed to perfection with just chopped garlic and chillies in light soy sauce.

Freshly shucked oysters-just squeezed the lime juice and eat it.

Fried Maggi mee noodle with canned braised cubed pork and sliced sea prawn-the only dish that was fried.

Dining behind a fishing net facade.

Enak Rasa Ikan Bakar No:4&5@Terapong.

There are just too many Medan Ikan places in Melaka, streching from Ujong Pasir
to Umbai.

We were spoiled for choices.

As it is a Puasa month, many Muslims break their fast here with a healthy meal
of grilled fish and other assorted seafood, otak2, nasi lemak....etc

As most of the popular Medan Ikan Bakar were crowded with diners, we drove
further inwards and opted for Perkampongan Ikan Bakar Terapong@Umbai Baru.

It is a much quieter and laid back, and is a 2 storey concrete building built along the shoreline,
with a big parking area.

A plump lady ushered us to her family run grilled seafood stalls at No 4&5.

There is quite a good selection of fresh seafood and fragrant yellow coconuts are available at their
drinks stall.

We had grilled fillet jenahak, sea prawns, lala, squid, otak2, nasi lemak and a mixed vegetables.

Overall the food was not too bad and reasonably priced

Parking is ample.

While waiting for the main dishes, we had fragrant nasi lemak bungkus with a dollop of spicy sambal chillies @Rm0.70/ and grilled otak2 @Rm0.70.

East Ocean Seafood Restaurant@Kampar.

My mother in law birthday dinner is a yearly affair.

Among the many older folks that I knew, most of them do not celebrate their birthday !

I just do not understand why ? Isn't a joyous and happy occasion !

This is the second time, the dinner is held at East Ocean Seafood Restaurant@Kampar, Perak.

Located near to the Tesco Hypermarket.

I t was a 5 course dinner set with sweet dessert and ended with  a bakery bought strawberry vanilla cake.

Parking is ample.

Inside this big prosperous bun are 10 small buns with a sweet green Pandan custard flavored filling.
Longevity noodle-well braised with strips of mushroom, lean pork-whole stalk of Chinese chives on the side in a dark/light soy sauce.
Steamed free range chicken in a thick gravy-looks like corn fed with yellow skin, fragrant and well muscled meat.
Steamed Loong Tan (giant Grouper) fish meat in a superior soy sauce and peanut oil-not much flesh -more of odd and end of the fish.
Dong Poh meat-well braised with traces of cinnamon and 5 spices powder-caramelized with honey-wobbly and bouncy with a melt in the mouth sensation.
Deep fried Sea Prawns then tossed in a tantalizing flavoring-very fresh and succulent-served with a abundance of spring onion and coriander leaves.

Mil pose with the strawberry vanilla birthday cake with her grand children.

RESTORAN 88.

My friend Steven raved about the delicious food he had with his family at Restoran 88 located in Continental Park, off Old Klang Road, Kuala Lumpur.

Restoran 88 is perched on a side of a deep valley and camouflaged with fruit trees on it's perimeter side.
They dished out all types of classic Cantonese cuisine.

p/s-Part of it's cement flooring is a bit uneven with some very visible crack which from my point of view is dangerous and may cause some movement of the earth especially during the rainy season.

Anyway the delicious food allayed all of our fear.

Parking is a breeze.

The front of the restaurant.

Poached free range chicken (1/2 portion)-meat with yellow skin from corn fed chicken-well muscled and meaty served with boiled Brussels sprout plus 2 plates of Ginger and deep fried Shallots dip-Rm30/.

Spongy Fish maw and gelatinous Sea cucumber served with boiled Broccoli-would like it better with more gravy!-Rm30/

Steamed Sea prawns (400gms)-very fresh, sweet, juicy, succulent and generously sized came garnished with shred Spring onion and Ginger-Rm36/.

Stir fried Tin Chat vegetable with sliced garlic-smooth, a bit slimy and some hints of bitterness-good for health!-Rm8/

FAMOUS CURRY FISH HEAD-RESTORAN 77

After visiting the Old Esplanade, Old Town Hall building, War Memorial monument, Fort Cornwallis and the site of "The king of tennis fiasco", we felt hungry again with all the walk about. We checked out from our hotel and had lunch at Restoran 77 near Persiaran Gurney. It is actually an old bungalow house which they have converted into a small and simple restaurant. The dining area is up a few flight of stairs while the kitchen is on ground level. Parking is ample along the road-rm0.50/hour. We ordered their signature dishes.

Their bold and striking sign board.

Curry fish head-cooked to order-garouper fish head was big, fresh and fleshly -with aromatic curry spices, onion, mint leaves and some old okra(lady finger) which was a big letdown-otherwise the dish was perfect!-rm36/

Home made bean curd-deep fried-soft and smooth-mixed with flavorful fillings-rm14/.

Steamed garouper fish tail-with soy sauce and garnished with finely chopped ginger. carrot and spring onion-was superbly fresh- it was the tail part of the curry fish head-rm33/.

Stir fry mixed vegetables-was soft and crunchy-was well blended in term of colours and healthiness-rm9/.

Assam sea prawns-fully absorbed the tamarind juice-crispy dried, succulent and medium sized-the children loved it!-rm36/

Eggplant topped with spicy shrimp paste and finely chopped and fried dry shrimps-the skin was pan fried until paper thin and was hard to chew-toppings with the flesh was delicious-rm14/.
