Batu 8, Kapar Sea-foods.

I have been yearning for fresh seafood for weeks.

Going somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Something to perk up my appetite and affordable.

This restaurant seems like deja vu, many years ago.

Located parallel to Jalan Kapar , turn left at 7 3/4 km beside a small
mosque and then right -restaurant is on your left.

The choices of food for the two of us was limited.
We ordered  steamed  flower crab, oyster omelette and a fried glass noodle
and fresh coconut.

A satisfying lunch meal on a week day.

Weekend Lunch @ Kedai Makanan Laut Hai Ung.

The fresh fishes and crustaceans sold in the local markets and Pasar Tani in Selangor are mostly from the Kuala Selangor district.

The long weekend holidays plus the beckoning of the freshest seafood was a good excuse to wander into Pasir Penambang for a seafood lunch and stocking up of fresh sea food for the coming Chinese New Year.

For my daughter Michelle's bff Edmond, it was his first visit to Pasir Penambang !!

On arrival-mum and wife headed straight to the seafood stall beside the restaurant to make their purchases while we ordered food for our lunch.

Even though the food served was not exceptionally good-what we liked was it's freshness and affordability plus the great view of the swift flowing seawater, mangrove trees and fishermen bringing in their catches in their boats right next door.

Parking is ample.

Chow Yhang Restaurant.

Another family dine-out at Chow Yhang Restaurant located in SS2, Petaling Jaya.

Having dinner together brings the family closer and it's also the time to keep up with the latest gossips and happenings.

This part of SS2 in Petaling Jaya consists of two rows of double storey shop houses, back to back and are mostly occupied with small restaurants and coffee shops.

Chow Yhang Restaurant is a small, compact, family oriented air conditioned Chinese restaurant that  does not have service charges.

After your meal, if you fancy some sweet pastry there is a famous Yau Char Kwai (Chinese cruller) and Hum Chi Pan (salty dough bun) stall by the road side that only open during the night.

Parking is OK .

Yam Basket-seated on deep fried white rice vermicelli and filled with Kai Ting (cubed chicken meat cooked with baby corn, straw/button mushroom, carrot, green capsicum and cashew nuts-the deep fried yam was powdery and melt in the mouth..

Herbal Chicken came in a piping hot casserole with spring onion garnishing-well herbal flavored and thickly gravied-a bit oily and salty.

Assam Garouper fish-garnished with fresh refreshing green mint leaves-filled with slices of lady finger and okra-fish was fresh and meaty-the spicy and sourish broth was quite oily.

Braised Pork ribs with special sauce-well braised and the dark soy sauce colored meat easily detached from it's bones-gravy goes well with rice.

Oyster Omelette-fried evenly with coriander leaves and spring onion until golden brown -filled with lots of juicy oysters-passable.

Ong Lai (Goh Kee) Restaurant.

Ong Lai (Goh Kee) Restaurant is a famous established night eatery in the dirty, notorious back lane off Jalan Raja Laut, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur city.

My mother likes to eat here because they served most of her delicious old school's food (young guys don't like to eat here unless they are brought there by their parents).

They have a basement dining area, partly air conditioned, alfresco dining and even the kitchen is on the roadside.

The chairs for sitting are much shorter than normal ones-a bit awkward!

Do not be alarm if you see rats scurrying around !

Parking is bad!

Steamed Soong Yee Thau (Bighead Carp-fresh water fish) in superior clear broth filled with Chinese long cabbage, strips of roast pork, lard, mushroom, sour plum, preserved Chinese Mustard and garnished with ginger, red chillies and cilantro-smooth, sweet with lots of thin long fork bones.

Fried Glass noodle (made from mung bean flour)- fine, opaque with a lot of elasticity-fried with shrimp, squid, oyster, strips of pork, lard, Chinese long cabbage, soy sauce and garnished with sprigs of tantalizing Parsley.

Oyster Omelette with a generously amount of odd sizes creamy, briny oyster and coriander leaves-a bit oily but yummy !

Fried Pei Ker (rice flour cake noodle) in lusciously laced Soy sauce-Hokkien style with dried shrimp, strips of pork, lard, Chinese long cabbage and pungent Kow Choy Fah (Chinese Chives).

Kow Choy Far (Chinese Chives) stir fried with pig's innards like crunchy uterus, kidney, liver and lots of lard-delicious.

RESTORAN PORT VILLAGE.

Whenever we visit the North Port area, we will go to Restaurant Bagan Hailam in the Bagan Village for their fresh salt baked Crabs and Hailam mee.

Yesterday, we found that the restaurant had ceased business.

We, then went to Restoran Port Village located at Tanjung Harapan,
a few 100 meters away.
This family owned restaurant served halal food.
The place was huge and could accommodate up to 70 tables with a sectioned area for air conditioned dining.

The restaurant's structure are built of planks and mangrove wood with concrete pillars and a solid, creaky 60 feet long plank gangway entrance.

As it was high tide, we could see and hear the sounds of rolling sea waves hitting the side embankment and mangrove trees at the side of the restaurant.

We selected a table with a sea view sights of ships, tugboats, motorboats and the occasional submarine-like Pulau Ketam ferry plying the sea lane.

Our orders were quickly taken by a girlish man supervisor.

Parking is ample and free.

Signboard at the front of the restaurant.

Hailam mee (thick yellow noodle) -with slices of Chicken meat, Fish cake, Shrimp, crunchy Beansprout and garnished with fine slivers of refreshing Cucumber-the noodle was smooth and tangy in flavor after squeezes of Lime juice were added to it-passable-Rm12/.

Deep fried Mantis Prawn meat tossed with slanted sliced Ladyfinger (Okra), Onions and Red Chillies-overfried to the point of dryness-too small in sized and tasted awful-Rm15/.

Or Chien-Oyster Omelette was nicely browned and crispy but the fresh Oysters were way too tiny and weeny-Rm12/

Stir fried sweet Potato leaves-refreshing and leafy-Rm8/.

The Star of the lunch- freshly delivered Roe Crabs-have it steamed-full of enriching red Roe-fine textured, meaty and sweet-Rm69/.

After the meal, went to the Esplanade at Tanjung Harapan for a breather-a photo of a replica boat on display.

Total bill:Rm140/

KANG GUAN RESTAURANT

The 45 minutes drive to Restoran Kang Guan near Pulau Carey via the Kesas Highway was pretty monotonous.
After the left turn at the Banting/Klang interchange, the country road was scenic but uneven and bumpy with lots of bridge and road humps.

On our left were vegetables and Dragon fruit farms while the left side were kampung houses dotted with warong.

Property development are slowly creeping into this sleepy side of Klang like Bayuemas.

Restoran Kang Guan have been in the seafood restaurant business for about 51 years !
This established restaurant is situated on the left, just before the Pulau Carey bridge.
It is built on stilts made from mangrove wood and planks-spacious with open sides, red cloth covered tables, plastic chairs and ceiling fans for comfort.

We have a good view of lush green mangrove trees and the swift flowing river meandering out to the sea.

Plastic reservation stand with names of big corporations hung near a counter means daily regular dining clients.
A sour faced waitress took our order-a real put off- luckily the food tasted great and was fairly priced!
The entrance to the restaurant.
View of Mangrove trees opposite from where we were seated.

The river meandering out to sea.

The bridge to Pulau Carey on our left.

Those guys on the boat were fishing.

Dining area.

Chillies sauce, chopped Garlic and Bird eyes chillies and a commercial face towel.

Yam basket- was thick, dense and crispy with lots of Yam aroma unlike others with the accompaniments of vivid colors stir fried green and red Capsicum, Carrot, Mushroom and sliced Chicken-and topped with deep fried rice Vermicelli-tasty-Rm15/

Fried rice Vermicelli with Lala (Clam)-fried Hokkien style with dark Soy sauce, small sized Lala, Choy Sam and Chinese round Cabbage-mediocre-Rm12/

Fried Or Chien (Oyster Omelette)-was crisp and fragrant with lots of Oyster and Coriander leaves-cholesterol laden-Rm10/

Fried Tang Hoon-also Hokkien Style-with dark Soy sauce, fresh Prawn, deep fried dried Shrimp, Squid-not too wet-old times favorite-yummy!-Rm12/

Steamed Promfret with rice Vermicelli-served with two Promfret fish which was fresh with no fishy smell, chopped pickled Chinese Mustard, white Beancurd, sprigs of Coriander to garnish and superior broth-a refreshing and heavenly dish!-RM-32/

Salted Duck eggs Crab (1 1/2kg)-super fresh, sweet, meaty with savory, salted Duck's egg flavors-we enjoyed licking up all the fragmented fragrant salted egg from the shell and claws-RM51/.

Fresh Coconut-the flesh was tender-nice to cool off after the hearty meal-RM4/.
