Ah Park Teo Chew Porridge @ Paramount Garden.

After a weekend of sumptuous food, we need to "de-tox" or when we are not felling well, eating porridge is the answer.

Eating porridge in a group is so appetizing and fun.

More dishes are ordered and  everyone get to eat a bit of everything.

Ah Park Teo Chew Porridge have all the home cooked types of dishes to entice us.

Parking is bearable.

Fried Cai Poh (preserved salted radish) with egg- finely chopped - well fried-Rm4/

Porridge @ Section 17.

This is the fourth time Restoran Kim Seng is relocating in Section 17/10, Petaling Jaya.

After renovations. the coffee shop is spanking clean and hygienic.

The main draw here is their mixed rice and fried noodles-catered mainly for university and college students around this residential area.

There are four other stalls (pan mee, pork ball noodle, wan tan mee and  a porridge/double boiled soup)

I like the porridge which comes in various mix and match ingredients.

My usual order is sliced chicken fillet with deep fried crackling pig's intestines.

The porridge is a cross between the Hokkien and Cantonese style which is not too gooey with blooming rice grains and very full fillings.

Parking is OK and free.

Porridge@ Section 17/1A.

Porridge for breakfast is the best remedy if you has a stomach upset from a previous night's  food binge.

This open air porridge stall, sandwiched between two blocks (Block A & B) of 4 storey walk-up flats in Section 17/1A is synonymous with office workers and nearby residents.

The husband/wife team have operated this porridge stall for more than two decades.

We missed their porridge when they were closed for nearly a year because her husband was immobile after an accident.

Recently they reopen, but only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and  start at around 6.45 am by 8.30-9 am they are sold out.

So be early if you want to try them out!

The porridge served here are Yu Sang (sliced grass carp fish), Chi Chap Chuk (deep fried mixed pig's innards), coagulated pig's blood, liver and plain ones topped with sliced ginger, chopped spring onion and a dash of sesame oil.

Parking is bearable.

We ordered two bowls of plain white porridge @RM2/bowl- we brought along thinly sliced Garouper meat and finely chopped Coriander leaves and added it to the piping hot porridge for extra flavor and taste !

RESTORAN MAKANAN TEOW CHEW.

For the past week, the whole of Klang Valley especially Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya was like a big chimney-smoky and stuffy.

(The Twin Towers covered with smoke and haze.)

With the hot weather's temperature at around 32 C.

It's porridge time
!- a good remedy to keep our body "cool" !

Restoran Makanan Teow Chew located on the ground
floor of a block of 4 storey walk up flats in Taman Desa Aman, Cheras was the answer.

Besides plain white whole grain rice hot porridge with dainty side dishes they also served delicious Claypot Chicken rice.

The place is low ceilinged with many ceiling and wall fans to keep it's customers cool.
The wall are tastefully decorated with poster, framed newspaper clips and photos of famous people.
Marble top tables and sturdy wooden chairs adorned the dining area.

Orders were quickly taken on hand held PDAs-fast and efficient.

ROOM EIGHTEEN.

We had our Sunday lunch at the newly opened Room Eighteen at Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya.
The setting was contemporary, high ceiling, bright and spacious with the main kitchen at the front (left hand side) of the restaurant.
The servers were mostly young punks barely knowledgeable about the food on the menu.
Service were acceptable, quickly attended to, on beckoning them.
The food served are more Chinese fusion, leaning towards Hong Kong style.

The kitchen at the far end.
