RESTORAN MAKANAN TEOW CHEW.

For the past week, the whole of Klang Valley especially Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya was like a big chimney-smoky and stuffy.

(The Twin Towers covered with smoke and haze.)

With the hot weather's temperature at around 32 C.

It's porridge time
!- a good remedy to keep our body "cool" !

Restoran Makanan Teow Chew located on the ground
floor of a block of 4 storey walk up flats in Taman Desa Aman, Cheras was the answer.

Besides plain white whole grain rice hot porridge with dainty side dishes they also served delicious Claypot Chicken rice.

The place is low ceilinged with many ceiling and wall fans to keep it's customers cool.
The wall are tastefully decorated with poster, framed newspaper clips and photos of famous people.
Marble top tables and sturdy wooden chairs adorned the dining area.

Orders were quickly taken on hand held PDAs-fast and efficient.

Parking is bearable.

It's also very hot here in Jakarta! The smoke comes from Indonesia? hehehe....

Yes i love teochew porridge too - particularly good on hot lazy days! Light and refreshing.

Simple plain porridge with lots of sauces from side dishes for a myriad of flavours. Simple but good.

I've only been to one restaurant where they take orders via PDA. Don't see these types of restaurants too often!

To me I like the braised duck and tofu best in your photos :). Great color and they look so flavorful and juicy.

I didn't realise eating hot porridge cools down your body. I suppose if it makes you sweat! : ) BTW, nice photos! They always make me hungry!

Went there this evening after reading your delicious-sounding posting.

Greater ambience than expected and service was super efficient. Though i find the teo chew cooking a bit on the sweet side.

Still prefer the porridge and braised duck/pork innards served at rest min zhong in ttdi (behind 7-11 that's the same row with stan chart bank).

If you like teo chew porride, I think you should give it a tryr - and i think they only operate for dinner onwards.
