ROOM EIGHTEEN.

We had our Sunday lunch at the newly opened Room Eighteen at Tropicana City Mall, Petaling Jaya.
The setting was contemporary, high ceiling, bright and spacious with the main kitchen at the front (left hand side) of the restaurant.
The servers were mostly young punks barely knowledgeable about the food on the menu.
Service were acceptable, quickly attended to, on beckoning them.
The food served are more Chinese fusion, leaning towards Hong Kong style.

The kitchen at the far end.

Nice Utensils.

Braised Beef noodles- generous amount of tender sliced beef and the noodle was springy too-Rm14.80/.

Seafood Congee-Porridge was ultra smooth and translucent with no rice residue, served with scissor cut Cruller, finely sliced Ginger, Spring Onion, strips of Chicken, Lettuce and roasted Peanuts-a real comfort dish!-Rm11.80/

Braised Seafood Mixed Noodle-served with blanched Choy Sam surrounding the plate, 2 small Prawns (cut into 1/2), flower cut Squid and tiny pieces of sliced Fish-luckily the noodle was springy with tastefully tossed sauce or else!!-Rm16.80

Crispy Roasted Pork Belly-was the best-with crispy, crackling skin and lovely 3 layered fats and meat-Rm14.80/.

Prickled Green Chillies, Light Soy Sauce and Sambal Chillies.

Smooth Iced Milk Tea-Rm3.50.

Total bill:RM65/
Location: Ground floor,
Tropicana City Mall,
Tel:03-7728-8128.

The interior and the plating of the items all look so modern! I don't see a ton of Chinese restaurants that follow this design language; probably the only one in Asia that was like it would be Crystal Jade or the Shangri-La Shang Palace restaurants.

The seafood congee looks delicious. I like how they put an assortment of toppings on top of the congee!

Crispy pork belly reminds me of Asia. I ate it so many times during my trip last year, and I rarely eat it here where I live even though that it is available!

Yup looks like it's time for me to pay Tropicana a visit... I was waiting till the "newness" settled in and everything was in working order. Once there's decent siu yoke, it's usually a sign that things are fully operating!

Hmmm, the siu yoke looks interesting. Must give it a try but I generally didn't like Tropicana Mall - nothing much to see there at all.
