The Grind Burger Bar@Sek 17, PJ.

The township of Section 17 in Petaling Jaya is now a melting pot for good food.

You name it we have it.

It could be for it's easy accessibility and good location.

The Grind Burger Bar is the new kid on the block.

Simple  and sparse decor is the theme.

Prefer this place over BurgerLab-no need to queue to order-open for lunch and throughout the evening.

Service was attentive and accommodating-wholesome and comforting meal and affordable, too..

Parking is bearable.

The Grind House Burger (pork)-soft buttered flavored sesame bun-chunky moist pork patty (a bit peppery) topped with fried egg, bacon, fresh lettuce, caramelized onion, tomato, Cheddar cheese, house made brioche and a pink color Dracula's sauce-with herb infused fries-Rm19/

Big Black Dog-charcoal buttered flavored bun-pork bratwurst coated with chili  (a bit salty), onion and herbs infused fries-Rm16/

Swedish Meatballs-meaty and moist beef meatballs with herbs infused fries-lingonberry sauce-better than IKEA's-Rm18/

Takeaway-The Grind House Burger (beef)-freshly ground Aussie tender and moist beef patty-same ingredients as the pork burger-Rm21/

CANTON - i

Canton-i located in One Utama, Petaling Jaya is a typical Hong Kong styled "Char Chan Teng" (cafe).

The modern decor with white bird cages hanging from the ceiling and butterfly's motif wood panel on one side of it's wall were eye catching and cleverly done.

We were there on a Monday evening and was surprised with their brisk business.

Service was prompt and efficient.

Cute butterfly's motif decor.

Polo bun with a slice of butter kept cool with some ice cubes-the pineapple's crust was not too sweet and the bun was soft-Rm4/

Egg yolk and Custard bun-the outer skin was skinny soft and the design was very appealing-oozing with the runny egg/custard fillings-Rm6/

Congee with lettuce and condiments like sliced fish meat, pig's stomach, bits of cuttle fish tentacles-garnished with toasted peanuts and spring onion-love the smooth, translucent and gooey congee-Rm11.80/

Congee with Carp Fish and Meat-sliced fish meat was fresh -the minced meat were filled with fatt choy (black moss), crispy Chinese crullers- garnished with spring onion and again the congee was perfect-Rm10.80/

Fried Udon (Wheat noodle) with tiny strips of chicken meat, thinly sliced red and green capsicum-tasted peppery but not worth the money-Rm16/

Fried Beef Kway Teow (flat noodle) served on a hot plate, with small slices of tender beef, bean sprout and egg-tasted more like Char Kway Teow-Rm15/

Wan tan mee with roast duck thigh-noodle was springy and well tossed but the roast duck meat was bland-looks delicious but deceiving-Rm17.80/

A pot of Pu-Er tea for three-Rm15/

RESTORAN KEONG KEE

Restoran Keong Kee is situated around the Imbi area next to Restaurant Yu Jia and opposite One Plus Shabu Shabu. The chef is one of the brothers of the "Tai See Tow" clan, (under the big tree trunk) off Jalan Silang in Kuala Lumpur. They were formerly "off shoots" from the famous, Restoran Soh Kee, also in Imbi Road. Their signature dishes are fried noodles- Sang Har Mein (fresh river prawns mee) and Ngow Hor (beef noodle). Of all the brothers i preferred this guy's cooking. This place is sparkling clean, with tables, chairs and the floor- oil stain free. I would rate this restaurant's hygiene and their open kitchen as Grade A. Even the sliced red and bird's eye chili are washed and cleaned. Parking is ample all around the area.

Clean interior-felt so comfortable.

Fried egg noodle (yee mein) Cantonese style-with choy sam, prawns, pork strips, intestine and liver-was full of smooth, thick, gooey egg gravy-mouth watering!

Fried beef noodle (ngow hor)-with whole stalk spring onion, sliced young ginger- the beef strips was generous in portion -well tenderized and fine in texture-tantalize your taste buds!

Steamed free range chicken with black fungus (can lower cholesterol), tied golden lily buds and traces of oyster sauce-was tender, muscular and delicately flavored with a dash of Chinese wine too- got oomp!.

Fried wide white noodle mixed with rice vermicelli-Cantonese style- same ingredient as the fried egg noodle-the crispy rice vermicelli absorbed the gravy well- taste wise was similar to the fried egg noodle- very consistent.

Blanched Romaine lettuce-leafy and crunchy-too small portion for the five of us.

KOREAN BBQ (DAORAE RESTAURANT)

July and August are the months that made a hole in my pocket! 3 birthdays in July (son, brother and nephew) and two on August 19 and 20( two daughters.) normally we go for seafood dinner but this year we opted for Korean food. this restaurant is located in Puchong Bandar Puteri besides Giant. it is on the first floor, a bit of a hassle for old people but the good food more than made up for it. the service was good, instead of table seating we tried the floor seating, very comfortable. the food was sweet, spicy and sourish, just perked up my taste buds. the charcoal fired BBQ contraption was smokeless, very well-designed with a vacuum or air suction pump, i think!
