Apgujeong Korean BBQ@Solaris Mont Kiara KL.

What I like about Apgujeong Korean BBQ is their refillable and evolving
banchans (rotational basis)- eight to ten different types of appetizing banchans
 and fresh lettuce.

As for their mains I usually order marinated chicken and pork shoulder
(sometimes pork belly or pork neck)

For sides maybe a jjigae, japchae, bibimbap, bossom or a pork belly fried with
 kimchi and white tofu.

Many of our birthdays are celebrated here.

Friendly staff, good service and affordable.

Old people friendly, no need to climb stairs.

Ample parking.

Restaurant Kong Sai @Paramount Garden, PJ.

Whenever I crave for poached chicken , Restaurant Kong Sai
comes to mind, always a good choice.

A no frills place for home cooked styled dishes like omelette, double
boiled soups, stir fried vegetables, steamed fish, minced pork,
spring onion stuffed tofu puff.........etc

My personal two favorite dishes are poached chicken which is
very consistent -smooth, tender and well muscled with a dip that
contains chopped spring onion, ginger, oil and soy sauce that
compliments the chicken so well.

The pork ribs and potato is another signature dish - so thick, creamy
and not too spicy -best with white rice.

22 Korean Fried Chicken Factory.

22 Korean Fried Chicken Factory is the latest Korean food craze
to invade Johor Bharu.

Located a stone throwaway from a Water Park in Taman Mount Austin -
a up and coming F&B place to visit when you are in Johor Bahru.

They are open at 12 pm -go early to avoid the queue.

At the front of the  restaurant are  a varieties of Korean snack foods for sale.

We were diners no:2, we placed and paid for our orders and got a number.
Our orders are , their signature garlic soy sauce with sesame three other
flavors of drumsticks, chicken wings, kimchi rice with wedges set.

Collected our food at the blip of our number on a digital display board
from a hole in the wall.

Served piping hot on trays- with plastic gloves to hold/savor the fried chicken -
super fresh crispy, moist and juicy.

Thumbs up !

Their creative sign board with recycled motor parts.

Kee Hiong Bak Kut Teh @ SS2.

Bak Kut Teh is different cuts of pork cooked in a pot of herbal
concoction plus some secret ingredients for hours.

A tea pot of hot Chinese Pu'er tea is a must - to wash off those fats.

Kee Hiong Bak Kut Teh has more options compared to others-
dry BKT with chillies and okra,  steamed fish, braised soy sheet,
golden needle mushroom and different types of blanched vegetables.

If you're hungry BKT is the quickest meal to be savored - affordable,
and wholesome meal gets to be served within minutes.

The pork ribs soup is rather robust, dark and too herbal.

Overall a contented tummy.

Melaka City (Half Day)

On our back from Johor Baru, we dropped by the historical Melaka city
for a half day makan (food) tour.

First stop was to  - Ming Sate Hut near Plaza Mahkota for their grilled
Pork satay , innards and Chicken  gizzards satay with their irresistible
pineapple/peanut sauce (a Melaka specialty).

Next we drove to nearby Yong Seng Gift Shop to buy 3 in 1 coffee and bisquit.

Then a distance away to Baba Charlie in Tengkera to buy and takeaway nyonya
kueh mueh and ate pie tees that was made on the spot by a young guy.

After that all the way to Cafe  Lin's in Limbongan, for a wholesome Peranakan
home cooked chap fan (economy rice) lunch,  buah keruak curry and cendol.

Imperial Rama @Genting.

Imperial Rama is an award winning restaurant - Thai and Oriental cuisine.

It has a nice and elegant decor with limited seating, so reservation is a must.

Good and quiet ambiance - good food presentation to entice your taste buds.

As card members of Resort World Genting - sometimes we are pampered and
given F&B vouchers to eat in selected restaurants in Genting.

We selected to eat here because of it's good and tasty food, consistently
cooked to perfection -a real gourmet experience.

Service is attentive.

Clay pot pork ribs (a  bit coarse) with julienne ginger, garlic and chillies - too salty.

Vegetarian chicken is actually soft soy sheet , Chines long cabbage, baby corn topped with fatt choy and served on the  side with blanched choy sam.

Deep fried tofu with fillings seated on blanched Romaine lettuce and topped with bonito flakes

Stewed soft, tender and gelatinous pork knuckle with blanched choy sam.

Pineapple fried rice with cashew nut

Appetizing sourish and spicy assorted seafood tom yum.

In house made tofu - lightly batter and fried until golden brown topped with cubes of water chestnut.

Stir fired sliced lotus root with assorted vegetables and cashew nuts.

Claypot chicken in Shao Xing wine with black fungus.

street food -Chew Jetty Penang Chiak is the place to go.

Located  in a quite run down area in Desa Aman Puri,Kepong.

The simple decor is quite pleasing to the eyes.

James Bond CKT

James Bond Char Koay Teow has been around for 20+ years.

Located at WDS (formerly Ho Ho Sek) in Petaling Jaya.

It's one of the many CKT stall that I like you patronise on a regular basis.

Served on a plate with a piece of banana leave with good wok hei,
beansprout, chive, cockle and good sized prawns.

A good dish to start the day.

Goji King @Solaris Mont Kiara.

Solaris Mont Kiara is a treasure troves for Korean BBQ restaurants.

So much choices but my personal favorite is Apgujeong.

This area caters to a wide range of diners especially the Koreans.

Goji King's banchan is too limited, cheese is their selling point here.

Grilled meat on a steel plate with side groove over a charcoal fire.

The melted cheese with corn on a sizzling hot plate is addictive !

Mixing and rolling the mini rice sealbap was fun.

Overall an average meal.

Dian Huo Xin Wo @Kelana Jaya.

A small restaurant with retro decor that brings back memories of yesterdays.

The mosquitoes were quite a nuisance but the good food made up for it.

Serving of fresh in house made ingredients is what makes me, kept coming back
for more.

Quite good choices of soup bases - i went for the big bone soup served
with radish, dates and corn.

The selected ingredients are all served in dim sum basket.

There are many varieties of sauces to go with the cooked food.

Overall i like it but a bit expensive.

No Name Claypot Chicken Rice @ Jalan Othman, PJ Old Town.

This clay pot chicken rice has no name, located opposite the wet
market in PJ Old Town.

The chicken are well marinated and i opt out the Chinese sausage
and salted fish.

The dark sauce was fragrant when mixed up in the rice and chicken -
with a burnt rice crust on it's side and bottom of the pot.

Served piping hot but they took the lid away instead of leaving it to
cover the unfinished rice.

We ordered a blanched lettuce with oyster sauce to go with it.

Overall a good meal  but a tad oily.
