Char kway Teow@ I Love Yoo@ 1 Shamelin.

I Love Yoo opened a new branch near my office @ 1 Shamelin, Cheras.

With the opening of 1 Shamelin, there will be a lot of food choices for me to choose !

Besides their famous Chinese cruller there are many different types of Chinese snacks, their famous soy drink and quick meals available at I Love Yoo.

I ordered a plate of Char Kway Teow @ Rm6.90 which was served with a piece of banana leaf on a plate with sliced fish cake, three prawns, egg, Chinese chives and beansprouts.

It tasted OK with some wok hei and was not too oily.

Char Kway Teow @ Restoran Leong Seng Huat, Perling.

When we are on holidays, our eating schedules will always be upside down.

Waking up late in the morning-breakfast and lunch became brunch (one meal).

Food at unfamiliar places can either be good or a total disaster.

Our gracious host Selena has a nose for good food and the Char Kway Teow that we had at Restoran Leong Seng Huat in Perling , Johor was tasty with lots of "wok hei."

It is a typical neighborhood coffee shop with a mixed rice stall at the front, two others noodle stalls and this busy (almost non-stop frying) Char Kway Teow stall which is run by the owner.

CKT without chillies-long, smooth and much slimmer flat rice noodle fried with beansprout, Chinese chive, egg, shrimp-not too oily and it was tasty-Rm4/.
CKT with red chillies paste and fresh bloody cockles-Rm4/

Char KwayTeow

I like my Char Kway Teow (stir-fried flat rice noodle) to have lots of crunchy beansprout, kow choy (chives) with extra fresh succulent prawns, no chillies, no cockles, less oil, a dash of pepper and a hot teapot of Pu'er tea to wash it down !

CHAR KWAY TEOW-KAMPAR MORNING FOOD COURT.

About ten years ago, there was an old lady, who did what this man does i.e. sat on a small and low home made wooden stool and fried Char Kway Teow that was tasty and delicious on a flat griddle beside a Dim Sum shop, in Kampar, Perak

I wondered whether this guy is related to her?

Recently, we went to the morning Food court situated next to the Kampar wet market for our breakfast of Char Kway Teow.
The nearly half an hour's wait was terrible, the digestive juices in my tummy made it turned and growled !
When it was finally served, the first mouthful taste of it, was worthwhile waiting for!.

The CKT man about to pack a takeaway with a Banana leaf/newspaper wrapper.

Char Kway Teow-Charcoal fried with lots of "wok hei" was not too oily with scrambled egg, finely chopped preserved Radish and garlic, Chinese Chives, crunchy Beansprouts, lard and served on the side was hot and fiery Sambal Belachan (Shrimp paste chillies) and a green Lime-simple and no fuss -one of the very best-Rm2.30/

HAWKER FOOD AT GURNEY DRIVE

After checking- in to our hotel rooms at the Gurney Hotel, i had a good bath and massage(water) in a jacuzzi. Took a short catnap and rest my weary legs after all the driving. The dinner for the night was street food-fried, oily, sweet and cholesterol laden food at the Gurney drive hawker center. It was a casual 15 minutes walk from our hotel. The cool evening sea breeze really aids us to reach our destination without sweat. The place was brightly decorated with full of festive and fluorescent lights and every stalls and tables are numbered-to facilitate easy delivery of food. It was jam packed with a potpourri of people and hawkers were enticing people to order their food. The hullabaloo of the good street food at Gurney drive was just average for me. Kuala Lumpur hawker food is on par with them!

Gurney Hotel.

Jam packed with hungry people.

Popiah-filled with sengkuang(sweet turnip), lettuce, scrambled egg and deep fried shallots-was soft and sweet

Otak-otak-cooked with coconut milk, moderate amount of fish meat. flour and spices-was fragrant, coconut milk flavored - satisfying.

Or Chien-oyster omelette-fried with tapioca flour, eggs-garnished with coriander leaves and chopped spring onions-sticky and smooth-coated with red and delicious sambal-sinfully good.

Deep fried shrimp and prawn fritters -was very crispy, with a crackling sound when you bite into it. dip into satay or chili sauce for added flavor.

Mee yoke or prawn mee-cooked either with yellow noodle or rice vermicelli-shallot, prawn, lean meat, kangkung, beansprout and boiled egg- was sweet, hot and spicy

Deep fried wanton dumpling(filled with minced pork) and bean curd-was over browned -it was in fact too crispy-good as a snack food with beer-average.

Char kway teow-was rich with prawns, beansprout and Chinese chive-was a bit wet to my liking but was tasty.

Air batu campur or ABC-finely shaved ice, grass jelly, kidney bean, corn, syrup, palm sugar, evaporated milk and topped with ice cream-perfect for sweet tooth diners.

A plate of mixed fruits to cool the body system.
