Restaurant Unique Seafood Subang@ Citta Mall.

A weekend family gathering to try out the food at Restaurant Unique Seafood, Subang@Citta Mall an up and coming F&B place in Ara Damansara.

Just like their other sister's restaurants- in a large part of their dining area are glass tanks filled with live fishes and crustaceans with tagged prices to match.

Deco are modern and the place is spacious with some private rooms equipped with Karaoke to sing to your heart delight.

The friendly waitress took our orders with an expensive recommendation of a Grouper King Special @Rm170/kg.

Overall it was a great dinner.

Parking is free.

Yam Basket filled with a vegetarian mix of  vegetables like broccoli, lotus root, celery, sliced carrot and Macadamia nuts-the deep fried yam was crisp, dense and creamy.

Sweet and Sour Chicken with green, red and yellow capsicum and onion-crisp and meaty.
Top: Steamed Grouper King Special-de-bone, thickly sliced -garnished with finely sliced spring onion stem and coriander leaves-flaky and fleshy. Bottom: Bones and head of the fish was used to make this big bowl of  soup with Lai Pak vegetables-deliciously and tasty-Rm320/

Steamed Prawns-super fresh and succulent..
Hong Kong Kai Lan to end the great meal.

Good Luck Restoran @ Sungai Rengit, Johor.

Next morning after breakfast at a self serviced Dim Sum restaurant at Bukit Indah.

The journey continued with a long, slow drive to Desaru using the new two lanes highway with a long, stunning and majestic looking A shaped China built link bridge.

The road leading to the beach were jammed with cars and the clean sandy beach were packed with holiday picnickers and swimmers.

After this we went to the Fisherman Museum about 6 km away but found that it was close on arrival.
Just strolled along the brackish sandy beach-took some photos and Samantha and me "planked" on an upturned boat for the fun of it !

Everyone was hungry after the "tour" and the nearest restaurant was 26 km away in Sungai Rengit - a small fishing village with it's own jetty and many fresh and live seafood restaurants.

Good Luck Restoran located a stone throwaway from the town is a converted village house.
I think it's family owned because kids as young as seven to twelve years old help to serve, clear and collect payment.

As it was a holiday, the restaurant was packed to the brim.
We managed to get a table after a 15 minutes wait-orders were quickly taken and was told that the waiting time is an hour !

The mini lobsters (buttered style) and live fresh seafood are their main draw.

Parking is along the narrow roadside.

Fried Bee Hoon with finely sliced BBQ pork, shrimp, beansprout and lots of Chinese round cabbage-finish it off in a few minutes because of hunger !
Lemon Chicken-lightly batter and deep fried -crispy skin and tender and moist meat seated on a bed of lemon juice gravy.

Golden Promfret - steamed to perfection-fresh and smooth textures.

Koong Por Mantis prawn-the meat was extremely meaty and springy in texture- stir fried with onion, spring onion and red dried chillies-highly recommended.

House made Tofu with How Siu Choy, assorted seafood like crab meat, dried scallop and roe-drenched with good stock reduction gravy.
Lai Pak Choy-young, tender and leafy and was not fibrous.

Delicious Dinner 33.

A series of home cooked dinner by my wife.

Deep fried big chunk Garoupa fish, garnished with deep fried ginger/garlic with a sprinkling of light Soy sauce-sweet, fleshy, well textured with no bones to pick- crispy and gelatinous skin.

Big onion Omelette-well fried with a nice aroma from the onion.

Pongteh Babi-cooked with sliced 3 layered pork belly, sliced mushroom and potatoes with gravy filled with lots of shallots/garlic/tau cheo (fermented soy bean paste)-perfect with the porridge.

Stir fried Lai Pak with white anchovies and garlic-juicy and crunchy.

Red sweet potatoes porridge cooked Hokkien style-suitable for the hot and humid weather.

Kam Kee Seafood Restaurant.

Kam Kee Seafood Restaurant is always one of the earliest restaurant in Petaling Jaya to serve Yee Sang (raw fish salad) without fail every year i.e. one month before the Chinese New Festival.

Prices for this delicacy have remained the same as last year.

We are their regular diners and tonight dinner occasion coincided with my son Mike's photo shoot for his CNY food theme project.

The food served are delicious and prices are reasonable.

Parking is ample-an open area- opposite the restaurant.

Yee sang (raw fish salad) (1/2 portion)-thinly sliced Haruan fish, toasted peanut, plum sauce, sesame seed, crackling dough cracker, peanut oil, shredded white radish, carrot, spring onion, pickled red ginger, pickled onion bulb, cilantro, 5 spices powder, pepper powder, Pomelo fruit-Rm23/

When all the ingredients are in place-time for everyone to toss and mix it up evenly with a pair chopsticks and shouting out all their wishes for a prosperous CNY-it was a delightful appetizer and filled with "rainbow" types of colors, taste and textures.

Steamed Frogs with blended ginger-a bit salty and the farmed frog meat was meaty but not as smooth and tender as those wild frog ones.

Stir fried Lai Pak vegetables-was leafy and crunchy.

Tofu-house made-deep fried and then topped with their smooth secret sauce (scallop flavored) diced carrot, green pea, mushroom, strands of fine Fatt choy (black sea moss) and bits of braised dried scallop-perfect with rice.

Herbal Chicken (1/2)-very tender and meaty and the juices with herbs like Yok Chut, Kei Chee and red dates was flavorful and Mindy slurps it up like nobody business.

The lady boss was very enterprising-with free sampling of various types of CNY cookies for every table-I bought one container of the above dough cracker with sesame seeds for Rm16/
