Good Luck Restoran @ Sungai Rengit, Johor.

Next morning after breakfast at a self serviced Dim Sum restaurant at Bukit Indah.

The journey continued with a long, slow drive to Desaru using the new two lanes highway with a long, stunning and majestic looking A shaped China built link bridge.

The road leading to the beach were jammed with cars and the clean sandy beach were packed with holiday picnickers and swimmers.

After this we went to the Fisherman Museum about 6 km away but found that it was close on arrival.
Just strolled along the brackish sandy beach-took some photos and Samantha and me "planked" on an upturned boat for the fun of it !

Everyone was hungry after the "tour" and the nearest restaurant was 26 km away in Sungai Rengit - a small fishing village with it's own jetty and many fresh and live seafood restaurants.

Good Luck Restoran located a stone throwaway from the town is a converted village house.
I think it's family owned because kids as young as seven to twelve years old help to serve, clear and collect payment.

As it was a holiday, the restaurant was packed to the brim.
We managed to get a table after a 15 minutes wait-orders were quickly taken and was told that the waiting time is an hour !

The mini lobsters (buttered style) and live fresh seafood are their main draw.

Parking is along the narrow roadside.

Fried Bee Hoon with finely sliced BBQ pork, shrimp, beansprout and lots of Chinese round cabbage-finish it off in a few minutes because of hunger !
Lemon Chicken-lightly batter and deep fried -crispy skin and tender and moist meat seated on a bed of lemon juice gravy.

Golden Promfret - steamed to perfection-fresh and smooth textures.

Koong Por Mantis prawn-the meat was extremely meaty and springy in texture- stir fried with onion, spring onion and red dried chillies-highly recommended.

House made Tofu with How Siu Choy, assorted seafood like crab meat, dried scallop and roe-drenched with good stock reduction gravy.
Lai Pak Choy-young, tender and leafy and was not fibrous.

San Tai Thong Seafood & Steamboat.

We were on our way to attend a wake at Xiao En in Cheras.

On the way we stopped at San Tai Thong  Seafood and Steamboat for a quick dinner.

This 'tai chow' is a corner lot of a row of old 3 storey shop houses located in Taman Pertama, Cheras- behind Station One in Cheras.

The place looks a bit rundown but the food is good and they offer quite a long list of dishes written on a whiteboard.

Will go back to try their other dishes.

Parking is ample.

Restaurant O.K. Tuck @ Cameron Highlands.

After visiting the market and a strawberry farm, we intended to go to Sg Palas Boh Tea Plantation and Factory to savor tea and scones.

Half way from the main road, the narrow plantation road was jam packed with cars and buses some want to exit while others want to proceed. It was havoc !

After half hours of waiting for the jam to clear with the help of "people power traffic police" we exited from it as fast as we could (do not go during the holidays).

With everybody hungry we went to Restaurant O.K. Tuck in Brinchang town for a deserving quick and delicious lunch before checking into our apartment at Tanah Rata.

Sweet and sour Pork-well marinated and of equal size-deep fried and then tossed in a Tomato/Vinegar sauce with sliced cucumber, cherry tomato and onion.

Mun Chee Sow-braised Pork knuckle with soy sauce until tender and soft to the bite-very fragrant and not too fatty-garnished with a combination of spring onion/cilantro/carrot and seated on a bed of fresh green lettuce.

Stir fried wild fern with Sambal chillies paste-crunchy and stemmy.

Clay pot Homemade Tofu with chopped Chinese long cabbage, mushroom, sweet pea bean and shrimp.

Lemon Chicken-well batter -deep fried chicken-chopped into bite pieces then topped with a zesty Lemon sauce.

Stir fried Oyster mushroom with Broccoli florets and strips of pork.

Total bill:Rm148/
Location: 26, Jalan Besar,
Brinchang, Cameron Highlands.

LALA CHONG SEAFOOD VILLAGE RESTAURANT

The other day i took my Singaporean relatives to visit my brother Meng, who stays in Ara Damasara. The main purpose was to see his new house and to have dinner at this seafood restaurant which he claims is the best. This restaurant is a branch of the famous Lala Chong which is along the Subang airport road just opposite the Terminal 3 building. The one we went was located in the Ara Damasara township. It is a two shop lot restaurant and alfresco style by the side of the shop. The ten of us plus two kids were ushered to a big table near an aquarium, half filled with live fishes. The aroma of grilled satay from the outside wafted towards where we were seated but we did not order any, will try it the next visit. Parking is easy and plenty. we ordered:

appetizer : pickled shredded mango with assam moi and bird's eye chillies, perk up your taste buds.

signature dish: fried lala with ginger and bird's eye chllilies the broth was a bit overpowering lala was fresh, clean and devoid of sand.

"tau foo kang" :white soft bean curd, minced prawns cooked in the style of shark fin soup-add some black vinegar to get the extra flavor.

stir fried paku choy (wild fern) with tuna bits and chillies-very mouth watering and spicy.

lemon chicken : half a chicken topped up with sweet lemon sauce-crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

deep fried squid (calamari) rings - crispy and crunchy-well marinated and some tumeric flavor.

salted duck egg yolk crabs -not enough of the duck egg yolk, some parts of the crabs were overcooked, with the flesh stuck to the shell.

everybody enjoying their food!
