Restoran Ipoh Road Yong Tau Foo.

I happened to run an errand around the Ipoh Road area.

And driving from Petaling Jaya I have to pass by Restoran Ipoh
Road Yong Tau Foo before my destination.

The timing was perfect it was just before the lunch time hour
and I have not patronize this place for quite sometimes.

Located in a old bungalow house with some of the fittings still in tact.

I ordered some Yong Tau Foo i.e. brinjal, okra, white tofu, red chillies, fishball,
fried pork dumplings and stuffed beancurd sheet to share with my wife.

The yong tau foo were freshly and nicely fried and the fillings
were quite generous.

We ended the meal with a plate of assorted fruits rojak -not overly sweet
but was fragrant with prawn paste and garnished with so much crunchy
ground peanuts.

Parking is limited.

Padi field eel and wildfrog @ Restoran Shi Zhi Wei.

For me, Restoran Shi Zhi Wei in Tapah,is the one of the best
place to savor padi field eel, wild frog and good "wok hei" food.

It's a small, clean, no-fuss place with about 15 tables but service is
fast (about 15 minutes)

The live wild frogs, padi field eels or farmed fishes are only slaughtered
upon ordering of food.

So you get to eat the freshest and best, straight from the wok.

Whenever we are here, our must order food are:

Steamed wild frog with blended ginger and spring onion.

Kiong choong tinkai -stir fried wild frog with spring onion, onion and ginger.
Kong po padi field eels - de-bone and filleted and stir fried with
dried red chillies, onion and spring onion.
Their in-house made assorted Yong tau foo.
Deep fried fu pei (beancurd sheet) filled with full of springy fish paste.
Stir fried sweet potato leaves with garlic.

Pretty affordable food.

Ample parking spaces around the restaurant.

Sun Ming Restaurant@ Taman Connaught.

For our Sunday lunch we went to Sun Ming Restaurant @Taman Connaught, Cheras a place famous for their roast duck.

It is two shop lots with the roast duck/pork display and chopping area on one side with seating inside and at the front of the shop.

It was only 11.30 am and at the front of the shop was a long queue for takeaway.

We managed to share a table with a couple.

Parking is OK.

Roast Duck(1/4 portion)-well marinated with a crispy skin, meaty but a bit tough, juicy with a distinct flavor served with freshly sliced cucumber and natural juices of the duck.

Roast pork of three layer pork belly-with a crackling skin and roast pig's intestine-flavorsome but a bit dry to my liking.

Yong Tau Foo-a great combination of fish paste/minced pork/salted fish stuffed into red chillies, brinjal and bittergourd-deep fried and then braised to serve-typical Hakka's style -tasty and good !
