Deep fried Wanton wrapped Prawn & Wanton Pork.

Hoong, a close relative of mine, is a novice weekend cook.

Her initial plans was to make Popiah and deep fried Wanton Pork and Wanton wrapped Prawn.

After cooking the fillings of shredded yam bean, grated carrots, cucumber, beansprouts and shrimps, she found out that she bought Wanton wrappers instead of Popiah skins (a soft paper-thin crepe made from wheat flour) !
So, we ended up eating the fillings as a dish by itself.

The deep fried Wanton Pork and Wanton wrapped Prawns were good as a snack-very crispy but the prawn tasted a bit coarse (she used the Udang Pasir, Sea prawns would be a much better choice).

Nicely wrapped prawn marinated with salt and pepper before frying.

Ready to serve !

YE Traditional Dumplings

Duan Wu Jie (Rice Dumpling Festival) falls on the 5th day of the 5th month in the Chinese Lunar calendar i.e. 16/06/21010.
It is celebrated among the Chinese to pay respect to a patriotic poet Qu Yuan who sacrificed his life by jumping into the Puo Luo River.
Dumplings were then thrown into the river by fishermen to prevent the fishes from eating his body !

Nowadays, dumplings is sold throughout the year in restaurants, hawker center, street corners and wherever there are Chinese people.

YE Traditional Dumplings located in Pandan Jaya served many types of dumplings in their restaurant.

The choices are mouthwatering like dumplings with white rice, organic brown rice, abalone, Sambal dried shrimps, Nyonya style...etc
They even accept orders for special ingredients Dumplings i.e.- at a different price ??

Tai poh mee.

This Tai Poh Mee stall used to be my "must have" breakfast place on my way to work in Cheras ten years ago.

Yesterday's morning, my wife and I revisited the stall to savor those delicious homemade noodles.

There is a parking lot at the back of the stall.
At night the side lane comes alive with lots of hawkers peddling many types of delicious food.

The walk from the car park reeked of rat's urine but no one cares, this Tai Poh Mee stall was doing brisk business.

It's only 7.30 am and some have to wait to be seated.

Loh Si Fun (Rice flour noodle)-the "limited"homemade short fat rice flour noodle was not as smooth as others but was full of rice flavor-drizzled with lard oil and topped with blanched Choy Sam, flavorful minced lean pork/fats, slivers of Char Siew and a bowl of wanton soup-Rm4.40..

My wife'choice - Kon Lor Wanton Mee -the springy Wheatflour noodle was drizzled with some pork lard oil and topped with a few leaves of blanched Choy Sam, chopped spring onion, favorful minced lean pork/fats, slivers of Char Siew (BBQ pork) and served on the side with a bowl of 4 pieces of Sole fish flavored wanton soup-Rm4.00.

Green pickled Chillies with Soy sauce to eat with the noodles.

Location: Side lane of Jalan Pudu.
Beside Restoran Siak Kee.

Restaurant Richwell Sdn Bhd.

Restaurant Richwell Sdn Bhd has rebranded itself from serving fusion food to specialize in Chinese cuisine.

Having Restoran Greenview, a well established restaurant as neighbor, it will be a tough fight for customers.

We went there for dinner and found that the food served were neat, clean and presentable.

Will definitely make a repeat to taste their value Lunch set.

Parking is OK.

Appetizer-get a great "kick" with every bite-julienned French bean, toasted peanut, Chai Poh, anchovies cooked in a Sambal chillies sauce-Rm3/

Sam Pui Kai (Stir fried Chicken with Three cups sauce)-came piping hot in a casserole-the mint leaves were fragrant when mixed with the tender chicken thigh meat cooked in a sesame/rice wine/ soya sauce-Rm15/
