I have been yearning for fresh seafood for weeks.

Going somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Something to perk up my appetite and affordable.

This restaurant seems like deja vu, many years ago.

Located parallel to Jalan Kapar , turn left at 7 3/4 km beside a small
mosque and then right -restaurant is on your left.

The choices of food for the two of us was limited.
We ordered  steamed  flower crab, oyster omelette and a fried glass noodle
and fresh coconut.

A satisfying lunch meal on a week day.

Thong Yew Seafood Restaurant @ Klang.

Another good weekend's lunch time meal at Thong Yew Seafood Restaurant @Klang again.
This time we brought two friends along to join us.

The place was packed to the brim at the air conditioned dining area and we waited awhile to be seated.


Originally at their old location in Taman Berkeley, their main signature dish was Bak Kut Teh but now with the son-in law as a chef cum partner the menu  is more extensive with local favorites.

Parking is OK.

Lala Beehoon (rice vermicelli)-with lots beansprouts, fried whisked egg and tiny baby Lala (clams)-a bit on the wet side-Rm15

Steamed Garouper (450 gm) (Anson style)-tasted a bit like Thai sauce with lots of hot bird's eyes chillies and garnished with freshly chopped big onion and coriander leaves-fish was fresh and chunky-Rm27/ 

Deep fried Pork Belly-a good 3 layers of meat and fats-real snacky-5 stars!-Rm20/

Stir fried Long bean/ Brinjal-quite an oily dish with lots of  "wok hei"-Rm8

Brinjal with salted egg-well tossed with flavorsome curry leaves and salted eggs-Rm8/

Bittergourd Soup-filled with sliced ginger, carrot, fishball, pork, shrimps-was average and not bitter-Rm15

Thong Yew Seafood Restaurant.

Usually, we like to eat Bak kut teh with side dishes of steamed fish, prawn and vegetable ala Teluk Intan style at Thong Yew Seafood Restaurant in Klang.

After relocating to this new location (a former steamboat restaurant) opposite Wisma Acmar, they reinvented a new set of menu which include noodles and most Chinese cuisine.

The three of us skipped Bak kut teh and tried their new dishes minus the rice, of course!

Parking is OK.

Indonesian style Chicken-meaty-full of flavors tossed with lemongrass, onion, curry leaves and red chillies-appetizing-Rm15/

Pork belly-thinly sliced-deep fried until crisp then tossed in honey/bird's eye chillies/onion-snacky and addictive- Rm15/

Sang Har Meen-deep fried crispy Wantan mee topped with egg/prawn roe gravy and 4 halves of the Udang galah (fresh water river prawn)- meat was fresh, sweet and springy-Rm66/

Wat tan Poh Choy-blanched Poh choy bathed in egg gravy-smooth with a bit of bitter taste from the Poh choy stalk-Rm8/

Pu'er tea to finish off the meal.

RESTORAN PORT VILLAGE.

Whenever we visit the North Port area, we will go to Restaurant Bagan Hailam in the Bagan Village for their fresh salt baked Crabs and Hailam mee.

Yesterday, we found that the restaurant had ceased business.

We, then went to Restoran Port Village located at Tanjung Harapan, a few 100 meters away.
This family owned restaurant served halal food.
The place was huge and could accommodate up to 70 tables with a sectioned area for air conditioned dining.
The restaurant's structure are built of planks and mangrove wood with concrete pillars and a solid, creaky 60 feet long plank gangway entrance.

As it was high tide, we could see and hear the sounds of rolling sea waves hitting the side embankment and mangrove trees at the side of the restaurant.

We selected a table with a sea view sights of ships, tugboats, motorboats and the occasional submarine-like Pulau Ketam ferry plying the sea lane.

Our orders were quickly taken by a girlish man supervisor.

Parking is ample and free.

Hailam mee (thick yellow noodle) -with slices of Chicken meat, Fish cake, Shrimp, crunchy Beansprout and garnished with fine slivers of refreshing Cucumber-the noodle was smooth and tangy in flavor after squeezes of Lime juice were added to it-passable-Rm12/.

Deep fried Mantis Prawn meat tossed with slanted sliced Ladyfinger (Okra), Onions and Red Chillies-overfried to the point of dryness-too small in sized and tasted awful-Rm15/.

Or Chien-Oyster Omelette was nicely browned and crispy but the fresh Oysters were way too tiny and weeny-Rm12/

Stir fried sweet Potato leaves-refreshing and leafy-Rm8/.

The Star of the lunch- freshly delivered Roe Crabs-have it steamed-full of enriching red Roe-fine textured, meaty and sweet-Rm69/.

After the meal, went to the Esplanade at Tanjung Harapan for a breather-a photo of a replica boat on display.
