Restoran Atlantic 1 (Nyonya Food)@Melaka.

Three men i.e. my two colleague and me drove down to Melaka city for business and pineapple tarts.

We  met up with our friend Ong whose office is just a stone throwaway from a famous pork satay restaurant in Kampung Hulu.

After we had done with our business, Ong took us to buy pastries and pineapple tarts,  fresh from the oven.

Then a quick tour of the rural areas of Pulau Gadong, Klebang, across the reclaimed sea areas and back to town (Jonker Street) and Kampong Hulu  for lunch at Restoran Atlantic 1 (Nyonya Food )

Their tagline-Nyonya Baba Food-Authentic Peranakan Cuisine at it's best aptly described their food.

Pineapple fried rice- grainy rice fried with shrimp-garnished with pineapple, chicken floss and cashew nuts-one of their signature dish.

House made Tofu-crisp on the outside and silky smooth inside-garnished with deep fried shallots, tomato and spring onion-seated on light soy sauce and oil.

Pongteh Ayam (Chicken)-with mushroom and potato-a bit diluted (need more buah keras (candle nuts) to bring up the flavor)

Gulai Siakap (not very fresh) with tomato and cubed pineapple in a spicy and flavorful gravy.

Chinchalok (brined baby shrimps or krills-an age old Malay delicacy) Omelette-well fried-a bit sourish and pungent in taste .

Blanched tender Ladyfinger topped with sambal belacan chillies..

Pun Choy@Loong Foong Seafood.

Pun Choy literally mean a basin full of food.

Traditionally, a Hakka delicacy and only available during weddings and festivals in the village and old rural districts in China.

Nowadays, it is too commercialized in Malaysia, easily available throughout the year.

Some restaurants need two days reservation in advance to prepare the dish which is served in a clay pot, with layer upon layer of meat and vegetables.

The quality get better if diners are prepare to pay more money.

We celebrated Mother's Day@ Loong Foong Seafood. with two big clay pots of Pun Choy and a plate of stir fried Four Heavenly Kings vegetables.

The Pun Choy was enough to feed 17 of us but the high level of MSG made us thirsty !

Pun Choy-the top layer was it's highlight and the best-soya sauce tossed sea prawns, scallop, Mexican Abalone, sea cucumber, roasted pork, limpets and broccoli-next layer was boiled chicken, roast duck, fish maw, meat balls, fish stuffed dried oyster, carrot and white radish....etc -Rm428/

Four Heavenly Kings-stir fried baby long bean, petai, four angled bean and lady finger in a onion chillies sambal.

Serai@Paradigm Mall.

Dinner at Serai@Paradigm Mall, with Michelle and my wife.

On their return, after their casual and leisure eight days holiday in Taiwan, they just crave for some local food.

I have frequented Serai-a restaurant that serve Northern cuisine with infused Thai's recipes and Western dishes-for quite a number of times but for them it was a first time.

As usual it was packed and business was brisk-diners come and go.

Tonight we ordered three staple local favorite food.

San Har Yin Yong-two river prawns, choy sam , julienne carrot cooked in a eggy gravy-Rm19/

Restoran Wan Loy@Sg Buluh.

Restoran Wan Loy is nestled among some big factories along the main road in Kg Matang Pagar, Sg Buluh.

From the front it looks just like an ordinary Chinese eatery with an air conditioned dining area at the rear of the restaurant.

Can be quite a noisy place if the restaurant is filled to the brim.

Their menu is quite varied and cater to any age group.

Prices are reasonable and the food are OK.

Parking is OK.

Butter Squid-crispy, fresh and chewy-the star of the lunch-Rm13/A

Thai's styled pig trotter (1/2)-crispy skin, gelatinous and meaty-served on the side with sliced strawberry and Thai's chillies sauce-Rm24/

Sliced cold white Tofu topped with gelatinous like shark fin and a superior crab meat gravy-goes well with rice-Rm19/

Sweet Potato Leaves with garlic to finish off the meal-a bit over fried-Rm9/..
