Birthday/Anniversary/Mother's Day.

Every year the month of May make me poorer and burn a big hole in my wallet.

So this year I have a dinner plus karaoke for my birthday, my daughter's wedding anniversary and Mother's day all on the same day-killing three birds with one stone !

This dinner was held at one of the VIP room in Pantai Seafood Restoran in Sg Kayu Ara.

Before the dinner -Michelle and Samantha entertained us with their great solo and duet songs.

There were nicely wrapped presents for me and my wife.

We ordered ala carte dishes from their extensive menu.

Overall it's was a happy, joyous and great dinner.

Four Combination Platter-a great dish to start the dinner.
Kepah (clams)in a superior soup-sweet and fresh.
Sea prawn with salted egg-crispy and fleshy with a fragrant salted flavor.
Sliced Lotus root stuffed with prawn paste in a white egg gravy-very crunchy served on the side with broccoli.
Steamed Soon Hock (Marble Goby) in a good grade soy sauce and peanut oil-fleshy, sweet, flaky and the star of the night.
Thai styled Pig Trotter-crispy deep down to the bones.

Asparagus with prawn-too old and thick rendering it to a bitter taste was returned to the kitchen.

Salted mud crabs to end the dinner-fine, sweet and succulent flesh with fragrant duck egg yolk flavor on the outside.
Local cut mixed fruits to aid the digestive system.

Total bill:Rm700/

LOVER BRIDGE SEAFOOD & RESTAURANT-TANJUNG SEPAT.

Morib is the nearest seaside resort for those of us who are residing in Selangor.
The beach are wide and shallow. dotted with swaying coconut and Casuarina trees and during low tide there are a lot of beach combers picking shell fish.

We were there last week to have a look at some of the retail lots offered for sale at Morib Gold Coast which are endorsed by popular singer Sandy Lam.

We then went to Lover Bridge Seafood and Restaurant in Tanjung Sepat for a seafood lunch.

Fishing boats jetty or lover's bridge.

Dried up mangrove trees from we were seated.

Salt baked sea prawns-tossed with finely chopped ginger, garlic and spring onion-fresh, juicy and succulent-Rm22/

Steamed white Promfret-with rice vermicelli Teow chew style-garnished with salted vegetable, mushroom, chillies, cilantro-very fresh but lacking with the tasty broth -Rm20/

Steamed mud meat crab-was fresh, fine textured but not meaty enough-Rm36/

FAMOUS CURRY FISH HEAD-RESTORAN 77

After visiting the Old Esplanade, Old Town Hall building, War Memorial monument, Fort Cornwallis and the site of "The king of tennis fiasco", we felt hungry again with all the walk about. We checked out from our hotel and had lunch at Restoran 77 near Persiaran Gurney. It is actually an old bungalow house which they have converted into a small and simple restaurant. The dining area is up a few flight of stairs while the kitchen is on ground level. Parking is ample along the road-rm0.50/hour. We ordered their signature dishes.

Their bold and striking sign board.

Curry fish head-cooked to order-garouper fish head was big, fresh and fleshly -with aromatic curry spices, onion, mint leaves and some old okra(lady finger) which was a big letdown-otherwise the dish was perfect!-rm36/

Home made bean curd-deep fried-soft and smooth-mixed with flavorful fillings-rm14/.

Steamed garouper fish tail-with soy sauce and garnished with finely chopped ginger. carrot and spring onion-was superbly fresh- it was the tail part of the curry fish head-rm33/.

Stir fry mixed vegetables-was soft and crunchy-was well blended in term of colours and healthiness-rm9/.

Assam sea prawns-fully absorbed the tamarind juice-crispy dried, succulent and medium sized-the children loved it!-rm36/

Eggplant topped with spicy shrimp paste and finely chopped and fried dry shrimps-the skin was pan fried until paper thin and was hard to chew-toppings with the flesh was delicious-rm14/.

Location:77-D, Persiaran Gurney, Penang.
