Birthday/Anniversary/Mother's Day.

Every year the month of May make me poorer and burn a big hole in my wallet.

So this year I have a dinner plus karaoke for my birthday, my daughter's wedding anniversary and Mother's day all on the same day-killing three birds with one stone !

This dinner was held at one of the VIP room in Pantai Seafood Restoran in Sg Kayu Ara.

Before the dinner -Michelle and Samantha entertained us with their great solo and duet songs.

There were nicely wrapped presents for me and my wife.

We ordered ala carte dishes from their extensive menu.

Overall it's was a happy, joyous and great dinner.

Four Combination Platter-a great dish to start the dinner.
Kepah (clams)in a superior soup-sweet and fresh.
Sea prawn with salted egg-crispy and fleshy with a fragrant salted flavor.
Sliced Lotus root stuffed with prawn paste in a white egg gravy-very crunchy served on the side with broccoli.
Steamed Soon Hock (Marble Goby) in a good grade soy sauce and peanut oil-fleshy, sweet, flaky and the star of the night.
Thai styled Pig Trotter-crispy deep down to the bones.

Asparagus with prawn-too old and thick rendering it to a bitter taste was returned to the kitchen.

Salted mud crabs to end the dinner-fine, sweet and succulent flesh with fragrant duck egg yolk flavor on the outside.
Local cut mixed fruits to aid the digestive system.

Soon Hock-Marble Goby.

Soon Hock a.k.a. Marble Goby (Oxyeleotis marmorata) is a slow, quiet and sluggish fresh water fish.

It spend most it's time half buried at the shallow end of brackish fresh water ponds or waterways to wait for it's prey.

A very elusive fish for even the real seasoned anglers !

A much sought and expensive fish in most Chinese restaurants and costs between Rm100-Rm250/kg.

I like the Soon Hock fish for it's smooth, sweet, flaky and fine texture flesh.

One of the best and tastiest fresh water fish.

Dragon Star Seafood Restaurant.

Dragon Star Seafood Restaurant is one of my favorite Chinese restaurant- small, unpretentious and consistently served tasty and good Chinese cuisine.

The restaurant location is good because it is along a busy road, nestled among residential houses and away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

This dinner was a treat from our children and son in law for their mum's birthday.

Service was a bit slow because of their low staff turnout and parking was bearable.

Four season platter-filled with 1. sliced crabstick/egg/seaweed beancurd rolls 2. stir fried sweet pea beans with prawn/deep fried cuttle fish served on a rice vermicelli basket and 3. cold dish of chewy jelly fish and vegetarian abalone-adorned with pieces of fresh lettuce and slices of pineapple-Rm60/

Wok fried Clam with sliced ginger and spring onion-clam meat were meaty and juicy-Rm25/

Deep fried Spring chicken (4)-served with crispy prawn cracker-well marinated with crispy skin and tender moist meat-Rm36/

Steamed Soon Hock -1.2kg (Bamboo fish) with superior grade Soy sauce and peanut oil and garnished with spring onion and cilantro-fish meat was smooth and fine textured-Rm120/

Green Dragon vegetable-leafy and smooth but less pungent than chives-Rm18/

Finished off the meal with watermelon and sweet mango.

The birthday lady and me.

DRAGON STAR AIR COND SEAFOOD RESTAURANT-2nd VISIT.

Dragon Star Air Cond Seafood Restaurant located in SS1, Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya is a hit with family diners on weekends and is worth checking out.
There are many special Chinese cuisine on promotion.

The restaurant's upstairs dining area decor looks grand while it's ground floor decor is much simpler.

Reservation is a must and bring along your appetite and wallet too.

Parking is ample in the evening.

Roast Spring Chicken-about 1 kg+ -crispy skin with tender meat-garnished with deep fried Potatoes chips-dip in salt/5 Spice powder or Chillies Garlic sauce for more flavor-Rm30/.

Soon Hock (Marble Goby)-at RM100/kg was a steal-steamed with Grade A light Soy sauce and garnished with chopped Garlic, green Bird's Chilies and Coriander to perk up the flavor-the meat was pleasant, sweet in taste with a fine and delicate texture-delicious to the bones!-Rm122/.
