Hutong @ Lot 10 is a mazy food court with lots of illusion-like mirrors and a far out designer with a freaky taste for assorted colors, lighting and structures.
All the hullabaloo about all the great food been centered in one place was great but the real taste and flavor are not there-I would prefer to go the extra mile to eat at the vendor's original location.
We tasted the famous Popiah which were way too sweet and tiny/mini in size.
.....and roast duck thigh/BBQ pork dry noodle at Duck King.

Chen Hanwei @ Restoran Onn Kee (Tauge Ayam) Ipoh.
Guest Post by Michelle.
Restoran Onn Kee (Tauge Ayam) Ipoh is a landmark chicken rice shop in Ipoh city, Perak.
It was the second day of the CNY festival and business was brisk and chaotic with a riot of hungry people waiting to be served and seated.
Next door neighbor Restoran Tauge Ayam Lou Wong was packed to the brim with tables spilling out into the sidewalk.
After shopping for our Valentine Day's gifts, we headed there for lunch and as usual parking was horrible !
While we were enjoying the meal, Samantha spotted that Singaporean popular male actor Chen Hanwei and his family were seated at a table next to us.
She was like wah ! so lucky.
After the meal, we approached him for a group photo and we were so happy when he obliged.
Total Bill:Rm70/

Wantan Mee @ Kedai Kopi Ban Kee.
Early morning on the first day of the CNY festival, to find something "Chinese" to eat is a bonus except for Mamak food.
This wantan mee stall @ Kedai Kopi Ban Kee-Tapah, Perak which we used to patronize was open and was a hive of activity with lots noisy local folks with families from out of town in tow.
We ordered the usual combo of dry wantan noodle with Char Siew (sliced BBQ pork) and meat dumpling with pickled green chillies for extra kick.
At Rm4/ per serving for the CNY festival it was quite ok.
Location: opposite of a Shell station.
Tapah, Perak.

CNY Dinner @ Dragon Star Seafood Restaurant..
This will be the tenth time we are having Yee Sang for dinner.
Tonight it was at Dragon Star Seafood Restaurant, one of my favorite restaurant.
The Salmon Yee Sang @ Rm40 for half portion was only just average, saved for those cashew nuts that we added to it which added some nutty flavor with every bite.
The rest of the dishes were consistent with what they usually served and was up to our expectations except for the Tofu.
Overall a great and affordable dinner to end the CNY !

Xian Ding Wei @ One Utama.
It's still the Chinese New Year and the mood and festivities are in the air.
My wife has put her kitchen apron aside and it's makan time again.
Michelle is still off and she joins us for lunch at Xian Ding Wei-Taiwanese Tea Room @ One Utama.
We were ushered to a table in the open area facing Cravings-I must say the chairs were comfortable and of the right height.
A good spot for people watching !
The food are similar to what you get at Fong Lye's but a bit inferior.

Jade Pot Steamboat Restaurant @ Old Klang Road.
The different spread of dishes. |
We celebrated "Yan Yat" (the common man's birthday, the day when everyone grows one year older) with a steamboat dinner @ Jade Pot Seamboat Restaurant off Jalan Old Klang Road.
The fully air conditioned restaurant was modern and spacious with a basement car park which you can park for free.
As there were seven of us, we ordered the 6 persons set @Rm139.80 with extra side orders of sliced pork and fish balls.
For the soup we had the hot, spicy and sourish Tom Yam soup and their signature Fish Head soup which cost an extra Rm8/
The ingredients and greens were super fresh and looked in-house made with four appetizing sauces i.e. red chillies-green chillies-fu yee-spicy chillies oil-to complement them.
......and Green tea to finish off the meal. |
Overall, I think it was a great meal and will definitely go back again.
