Restoran Nam Hing Loong @ Temoh.
Restoran Nam Hing Loong is an air conditioned restaurant located
along the Tapah - Kampar old trunk road.
Temoh is a desolated small town with two rows of dilapidated shop houses.
Famous for it's pao at a coffee shop (noon only) opposite of this restaurant.
The evening heavy down pour did not deter us from driving from Tapah
to meet our host Yeong Huey Ling and husband for this dinner gathering.
We were late because of the traffic and dinner was about to be served
when we arrived.
The dishes were so home cooked -no fancy plating - straight from the wok.
The stir fried Haruan fish slices with ginger and onion was a winner for me
and it's bones were made into a savory milky soup with julienned young ginger,
Chinese wine, herbs and dates.
Besides that the other dishes were-
Stir fried pacuk paku with salted egg,
Thai style pork knuckle with two types of sauces,
Steamed herbal free range chicken,
Claypot gelatinous water terrapin,
Steamed silky soft tofu with red chillies and minced pork and ended with Hokkien
fried mee -good wok hei.
A comforting meal with good friends and relatives.

Olive Garden @ Mid Valley.
Olive Garden is an American - Italian casual dining restaurant
specializing in Italian cuisine.
The decor is typical American but with pictures of typical scene in
Italy on the wall.
This was a birthday gathering for the seven of us and second time for
some.
The unlimited servings of bread sticks, soup and salad was a plus point
for us big eaters.
We went for quite a number of dishes as we intended to share and
taste some the different flavors.
Some of our orders :
Shrimp pasta aglio olio - sauteed in extra virgin olive oil with red
chilli flakes, fresh basil and Italian seasoning.
Garlic rosemary chicken - caramelized garlic, marinated chicken with
mashed potato and spinach.
Triple cheese carbonara piadina - three types of cheese on flat bread
pizza with tomato and bacon bits. .
Sicilian pineapple - chicken ham, roasted red pepper, pineapple on home
made marinara cheese.
Eggplant parmigiana -lightly breaded eggplant fried and topped with cheese.
Smoke mozarella fonduta- oven baked served with Tuscan bread.
Calamari-lightly breaded and fried until golden brown.
Overall a fulfilling and wholesome meal with fresh ingredients and
especially for cheese lovers and a good eat out for family bonding.
These are all unlimited serving with our orders.

Heng Kee Bak Kut Teh @PJ Old Town.
The first signage that catches your eyes " we have no branches only
one -Heng Kee BKT"
Decades ago, their parents started their business just opposite from
this present house -just besides the drain.
I am one of their many loyal fan from the early days - Those days in PJ,
when you want to eat BKT this is the only good place to eat.
Once upon time they were my client and now I am the opposite.
How times flies !!
I eat here at least once a month.
When the boss sees me - he knows what i will order - we will
find a table to sit, order Chinese tea and maybe in 10 minutes
the food will be served.
Our usual order if in a big group are -
XXL Pork ribs (added our own abalone), braised mushroom, crullers, tofu puffs,
pig's tail. chi chang yuk, pig's stomach with stuffed intestine and blanched vegetables
of the day.
A fulfilling meal .

Mak's Chee @OneUtama.
We queued up for nearly 20 minutes just to eat Wonton mee
@Mak's Chee, (a Michelin Star restaurant in Hong Kong).
Upon being ushered to our seats- saw some empty tables not open ??
maybe they wanted to attract attention with lots of people queueing outside.
The lady supervisor got my orders wrong even when I repeated my orders.
The prawn wanton dry noodle (Rm14.90) was hidden under my noodle - reason?
to keep the noodle springy -what a load of bull.
The noodle is half portion of our local wanton mee - five mouthful to be exact.
The cuts of the tendon brisket dry noodle (Rm15.90) was ok -the 5 spices were
a bit intimidating -for this dish the noodle is at the bottom.
The blanched Choy sam (Rm10.90) was old and tasted like overnight ones.
Look at how they poured the Hoisin sauce.
The prawn wonton (Rm15.90) was the star of this meal -crunchy, firm, fresh
and full of textures.
Overall not worth your hard earned money.
Location: One Utama Shopping Centre,(facing Cold Sorage)

Wanton Mee @Restoran Golden Kim Wah.
Now the wanton mee craze is on with the opening of
Mak Chee in One Utama.
With a Michelin Star in Hong Kong.
The various photos of their wanton mee on Instagram
does not good pleasing to the eyes.
The prawn wanton looks so hastily made and the wanton mee
looks like it's just been slab on the plate !
Wanton mee is a fast and cheap dish in many coffee shops for
any time of the day.
This husband and wife stall in Restoran Golden Kim Wah is one of favorite.
Been in business for more than a decade -the mee is served in various styles
with either braised pork, curry chicken, BBQ pork, braised chicken feet...etc
Today I went for their dry wanton mee served with three soft and gelatinous
braised chicken feet, blanched choy sam with earthy Shiitake
mushroom and a bowl firmly pressed pork wanton soup.
A great meal to start the day.

Steamed Noodle @Restoran New Seaview.
Most customers will give this steamed noodle stall a miss.
Restoran New Seaview is more famous for it's pork noodle.
This stall is located side by side with Po Po Curry mee.
A week ago, my wife ordered their steamed keow teow
(flat wide rice noodle)in a clear superior soup filled with
salted vegetable slices, tomato slices, red chillies padi , fish
slice, prawn, poached egg and garnished with chopped spring
onion and deep fried garlic oil with a dash of white pepper.
A plate of goodies that knocks me off -reminds so much of my wife's
cooking.
Looks so appetizing, visually pleasing to my eyes-I just want to dig in
straight away.
The taste was perfect not too sweet nor salty -the various ingredients
was playful on my palate.
I'd give them a Michelin star if I can.
Today, I ordered steamed bee hoon (rice vermicelli) that comes with
the same ingredients.
I would say they are consistent and up to my liking
A gem of a find for me and I hope that they make it their signature dish.

My Elephant @Section 17.
Found some photos of our lunch at My Elephant, Section 17.
Very affordable Set Lunch at Rm6.60 only, on weekdays only.
We ordered two brown rice set and a noodle set.
Fast and friendly service and good tasty food.
And I just love their Pandan Cooler drink.

Restoran BBQ Soon Hing Sdn Bhd.
Restoran BBQ Soon Hing Sdn Bhd is the new kid on the block
in the quieter side of SS2, Petaling Jaya even though they face
the main road.
They are a branch of their namesake in Puchong, famous for BBQ
and roast meat and poultry with some dim sum thrown in.
Lunch time was full of people-sharing tables is common.
Brisk business, fast service, good food and truly affordable.
The missus and I ordered a plate of Roast duck noodle (Rm7.40)
served with blanched choy sam and deep fried pork lard -how I
wish the noodle were more springy and sauce not too watery.
A bowl of Ipoh Sar Hor Fun (Rm6.40) with no beansprout but got chives,
prawn, a chopped poached chicken drumstick-the soup was salty.
And a plate pan fried prawn rolls (Rm5.80)which turned out to contain
some carrot and minced pork, too.
Overall a fulfilling meal.
Location:18, JalanSS2/24,
Petaling Jaya.
Ming Ren Restaurant @Genting.
at selected restaurants in Genting.
We invited my sister and brother in law to eat with us at
Ming Ren Restaurant located at Level 2, Maxims Hotel.
They are famous for their tantalizing and succulent lamb dishes,
which is a no no for us.
We ordered a stewed rice with assorted seafood, some chopped
vegetables like kai lan in a superior liked soup - more like Teo
Chew porridge and it was delicious.
Next was Stir fried Dory fish with ginger and spring onion - very
chunky pieces with a glaze brown gravy.
The last dish was Golden crispy wasabi prawn with dragon fruit
and fish roe - a good combination.
And ended the meal with a 5 grains Vanilla ice cream -smooth and
not too sweet and crunchy grains to chew.

Genting Highlands.

Chuup @ Damansara Jaya.
So many good reviews on Chuup makes me curious.
Some let it sound so delicious about their home cooking style food.
Well different people have different taste.
A lot of recycled wood and utensils are used in the decor.
For our lunch we went for their normal dishes - Nasi Lemak
with pork rendang - the sambal was too sweet.
Nyonya Curry Laksa - thick creamy coconut milk -like the taste of daun kesum.
Prawn Mee - way too sweet but ingredients were fresh.
Pork satay -over grilled until charred -well marinated but too sweet.
Overall the food is commendable but needs some tweaking.

Roast Duck @Restoran Lucky Seafood.
This roast duck stall outside of Restoran Lucky Seafood is
not part of the restaurant but you can order and eat there.
Why bother to queue for the Restoran Loong Foong's roast
duck when this is just as delicious ?
The roast duck are plump, meaty, more herbal flavored with
a crispy skin and succulent meat.

Lou Sang @ Kam Kee Seafood Restaurant.
The Chinese New Year is a month away, yet Yee Sang-lou sang
(prosperity toss) is available in some restaurants.
The early bird catches the worm.
This is my first lou sang of the year.
What I like about the Yee Sang here is that most of the salad
ingredients are made in house - no artificial coloured bee hoon fritters
is used.
We started the dinner with a Jelly fish Yee Sang - the plum sauce was perfect
not too sweet and the shred salad ingredients were fresh and crunchy.
Followed by stir fried sweet potato leaves, citrus flavored pork chop
and ended with a steamed Turbot fish which was recommended by the
supervisor - good choice, smooth flesh and was not bony.
Location: 9 & 10, Jalan 5/44,
Petaling Garden, Petaling Jaya.
