KEDAI KOPI & MAKANAN MING CHUN KEE.

Ming Chun Kee is a simple no fuss restaurant located on the ground floor of a 4 storey walk up block of flats in Section 17/1A in Petaling Jaya.
Do not be deceived by the shop's exterior because the food served are good.

We sat at a table in the open area as it was more airy.

Parking is more bearable in the evening.

Deep fried 1/2 chicken (with crispy tender and moist meat) garnished with an avalanche of crispy deep fried big onion and seated on a sweet tasting Lea & Perrins Worcestershire/soy sauce served on the side with sliced cucumber and red tomato-Rm25/.

Clay pot Curry Garoper fish head (300 gm) with added vegetables like brinjal, ladyfinger, Chinese round cabbage, long bean and Tofu puffs -the curry was aromatic, creamy, coconut milk flavored but not too spicy-perks up your appetite and a real delight with white rice-Rm21/.

Stir fried Hong Kong Choy sam-plump stem and leafy to balance off the meat-Rm8/.

DELICIOUS DINNER 30.

A series of home cooked dinner by my wife.

Her signature Tofu-with diced carrot, finely chopped Parsley, cereal and some fish paste-full of protein and very nutritious.

Deep fried Pork ribs-well marinated with Nam Yee (preserved beancurd), pepper, sesame oil, egg and a sprinkling of sugar-lightly battered with Tapioca flour-crispy, fragrant and meaty.

Pan fried sliced Brinjal (Egg plant)-so that it would not be too oily, topped with minced dried shrimp, pork and sambal belacan chillies-best with rice!

LOVER BRIDGE SEAFOOD & RESTAURANT-TANJUNG SEPAT.

Morib is the nearest seaside resort for those of us who are residing in Selangor.
The beach are wide and shallow. dotted with swaying coconut and Casuarina trees and during low tide there are a lot of beach combers picking shell fish.

We were there last week to have a look at some of the retail lots offered for sale at Morib Gold Coast which are endorsed by popular singer Sandy Lam.

We then went to Lover Bridge Seafood and Restaurant in Tanjung Sepat for a seafood lunch.

Fishing boats jetty or lover's bridge.

Dried up mangrove trees from we were seated.

Salt baked sea prawns-tossed with finely chopped ginger, garlic and spring onion-fresh, juicy and succulent-Rm22/

Steamed white Promfret-with rice vermicelli Teow chew style-garnished with salted vegetable, mushroom, chillies, cilantro-very fresh but lacking with the tasty broth -Rm20/

Steamed mud meat crab-was fresh, fine textured but not meaty enough-Rm36/

Total bill:Rm84/

RESTORAN PING WAH.

Restoran Ping Wah is a small eatery located in Paramount Garden, Petaling Jaya that served good, simple home style Hainanese food.

The young owner Joe Hoo is a family friend of my Singaporean relatives.
Before taking over Restoran Ping Wah, Joe was running another restaurant named Oh La La in Kuchai Lama.

These dishes were Joe's selections for us.

Parking is ample.

Braised lean pork strips with thinly sliced potatoes-a tad too sweet- would have like it more if the potatoes are cut into wedges.

Deep fried Ma Yau (Threadfin) bathed in good grade Soy sauce and garnished with deep fried ginger was a delight-crispy and moist inside.

Braised Pig's tendons with pineapple, preserved Soy bean and spring onion-tangy taste and the tendon was crunchy.

Hainanese fried egg-his dad's recipe-the egg white are fried and stirred until it was fluffy-topped it with raw egg yolk and finely chopped Chai Poh (preserved Radish)-outstanding!

Deep fried Squid rings-lightly batter, chewy but was not crunchy.

Stir fried young sweet potato shoots-tender and smooth.

Another of Joe's father recipe-sambal salted fish-way too saltish but goes well with rice.

Total bill:Rm92/

CLEAR SOUP / RICE VERMICELLI-POACHED CHICKEN-

This stall was formerly from a coffee shop at the PKNS flats in Section 17/1A, Petaling Jaya where they were doing very brisk business.
They decided to move back to their old roost in Section 2, PJ old town after a tiff with the coffee shop owner.

We ordered two bowls of tasty clear chicken soup with rice vermicelli and a poached chicken thigh.

Clear soup rice vermicelli served with shredded chicken meat, lean pork, 2 home made fish balls, a piece of poached chicken and garnished with chopped spring onion and garlic/lard oil-very tasty chicken soup and quite a generous bowl-Rm4/.

A plate of poached free range chicken thigh-smooth, fragrant and muscled-Rm6/

Spicy, zesty garlic, ginger, lime and chillies sauce-to go with the chicken.

Location: A stall in Garden Seafood Restoran (opp. Tayaria),
Section 2, Jalan Penchala,
Petaling Jaya.
